Last year was rough for me. Only my second season hunting with a bow. I bought my bow around June 2020 and shot it nearly every day leading into the 20-21 season; it paid off because I made a perfect heart shot on a doe for my first bow kill. Fast forward to the 21-22 season, I felt over confident in my ability and practiced only a handful of times before/during season, and made a terrible shot on a doe; it was extremely humbling/gut wrenching/shameful, and I guess we all get a few of those in our lifetime, but I know it reassured me that I'll be practicing a hell of a lot more before this upcoming season. Luckily, as bad as the shot was, it tore through a pretty major artery (far back spine) and she only made it about 60 yards/died quickly. That one hurt though..

This will be my 42nd year hunting, 4 years ago I switched to a crossbow, I struggle to draw my mathews and once at full draw I can only hold the draw for 20 seconds cause of back issues

If you hunt, this will happen. Rifle or bow, all we can do is keep trying

Couple different small 6 points so far. Both look like they may split again to a 7 or 8. This is on the private land I have permission to hunt…but probably won’t be able to much longer. Too much development going on and rental cabins being build all around it. Too much noise to be able to hunt successfully. Probably try to take out several does this year and hit national forest for the bucks.
