I signed the allocation page securing it. It’s relatively close. I wasn’t too picky.

Could be, but never will be; there is a zero percent chance I'll pay even a dollar over MSRP; you mark it up, I walk. :)

They offered one with everything I wanted but it was 2wd. If I’m going with a tacoma it is going to be 4wd.
The dealer I went with has the same add on bs, but at least I’m getting something vs a straight markup.

The dealership (SeTx area) I secured mine at has a white TRD OF allocated with no takers yet if anyone is interested. Supposedly coming in about a week.

    Sounds right.
I spoke with a guy at a Ford dealership last month when I was doing some market research and they wouldn't take any orders till Aug, and then it would be only for 2023 models.

Classic Toyota in Galveston has promised me MSRP with no forced dealer add ons. I think they are very particular though about where you live because it seems like they want repeat business customers and also require 2k down. From deposit to allocation was about 1.5 months for me with the dealers estimated arrival date by the end of July.

I had talked with them Monday but they weren’t too enthused. Their website wasn’t updated and listed one in stock that wasn’t. Being that we are so close did you pay a deposit before allocation or after? I’m trying to figure the timeline.

Yeah, not sure where you're located but my phone # area code is in Dallas so when I first called the dealer seemed like he wasn't really interested in working with me, but when I told him that I actually live in League City things changed. Can't say that I blame them, I think they are playing the long game by taking a hit on charging MSRP now in hopes of creating a bigger customer base.

Their website stock is awful, I really don't understand how it works. I check it daily and there are 5 trucks that have always been on the website (but obviously not available for purchase) and every once in a while a truck will show up for one day then the next day be gone.

I put a deposit down May 19 before allocation, from May 19 - early July the dealer sent me 4 different trucks available (none met my needs, there was also one not spoken for when I put my deposit down on May 19). So basically 5 trucks offered that I turned down in about a month.

July 7th dealer offered me the truck that I accepted and gave me a permanent VIN, said it would be here by the end of the month.

That seems normal and it could be longer for the more uncommon configurations. I have been told 7 months to a year by 2 dealerships when I was searching for mine.

I’m just north of Beaumont. Same area code. McHaik in League City was who had the $3k+ upcharge. As luck would have it it was the local dealer who came through.

I might know that listing in NorCal. If so, that dealer always has huge markups. I walked away after being told they will add on markup.

Thankfully I got mine for MSRP. No add-ons.

So I’m one of the 6/4 builds that’s stuck in limbo, with my truck built but just sitting in Baja.

Just got a call from my sales guy. He’d just talked to their inventory specialist who said they’ve got 6 trucks sitting in Baja (including mine) with no info and no timeline whatsoever. He urged my salesman to call me and offer some alternatives that were just allocated to them. So I have decisions to make…

I can wait on the 6/4 Build with no ETA. Or I can switch and hope for September arrival on one of these new allocations.

Original and new options are all OffRoad 4x4 V6 Double cab. All very similar in price.

    Original:
Red, long bed, with tech package (blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert), bed mat, blackout emblems

    2 new options:
    - Lunar Rock, short bed, no tech package, bed mat, blackout emblems, mudguards, tailgate insert (which I think essentially blackout the Tacoma on the rear tailgate)
    - Red, long bed, no tech package, bed lighting kit (don’t care about) but no bed mat or blackout stuff

Interesting that neither of these have the tech package. I’m planning to call my sales guy and ask if any of their allotted OffRoads do have the tech package. I love the BSM and RCTA alert for safety reasons, esp going to a truck from a much smaller and more nimble vehicle. Guess if I went for the Lunar Rock short bed, that’s easier to park.

I chose long bed originally because it was what was available on the build that was closest to what I wanted. Though clearly it didn’t end up being that “available” after all!

Lunar Rock is definitely appealing especially because it seems pretty rare and well-liked (planning to keep it long term, but resale value is always a benefit). I haven’t seen it in person, so I don’t know first hand what I think of it. But it might do better in the heat here in Southern Arizona. I do love the Barcelona Red, though…

I know this is my decision to make but thought typing it out and getting feedback might help me clarify what’s most important to me. Thanks for any thoughts!

@Rod03 could you check the VIN 3TMDZ5BN6NM133637 once more and confirm there’s no info/update? Thanks!

I was going to go with Mac Haik until I found Classic Galveston. The timeline that Mac Haik told me was much quicker than Classic, but I am willing to wait so backed out of Mac Haik. Although their markup was a lot, I felt as though I was at least getting some benefit from it.

Good luck hope you get your truck soon.

I would see if the dealer will let you place deposits on both and accept what comes first if you are in a time crunch. I personally agree the safety features are nice and were must haves for me. That’s why I ended up with a Limited allocation. I understand the no ETA 06/04 builds are frustrating but it could start moving tomorrow. It would suck to give it up if it’s what you are after..

I agree that the vin website is not very accurate. I put my temp vin in and it does say its an sr5 short bed 4x4, but doesnt mention trail. It does show 1 recall which im assuming is not gonna be good for quick delivery. It was built the 6th of july, but im hearing the 7/5 and 7/6 builds have the safety recall involving child lock things that were not welded correctly. Also, oakland port truckers are protesting so i dont know if that will affect delivery times as well.

Im not in a huge hurry, but just want the truck asap like everyone else, just sucks paying 700 a month for the rental. What a time we are living in.

Not to beat a dead horse. But for what it's worth, I've been told by several dealers that the reason my allocation hasn't been matched with me is because of my "must haves" (deposit left at first dealer back in Nov 2021, second deposit different dealer March of 2022)

Premium OR package (I guess leather is now in low supply)

    Advanced Tech

    DCLB

Those 3 items are preventing me from an allocation.

    I'll wait till it's a 2023, or hell a 2024.
