Good evening got my oil delivery today. 425 gallons final tally 5.04 per gallon. County tax .14 for a total of $5.18. I am guessing the price is going back up so I took a risk but at least I’m set for the winter. I have a 1000 gallon tank so I used 425 gallons last winter.

    Kurt: Prayers for the wife.

Yesterday went well. Tree limb waste was disposed of quickly. Today is a little work and harvesting in the garden. Need to make a grocery store run for some vegies and fruit. Tonight, it is off to Pirates Cove for dinner and live music.

Good morning all. I hope you can stay safe from the heat. I might die today. I’m playing in a golf tournament starting at 11:30. Suppose to hit 97 today. I’ll have lots of water and sunscreen. It is a mountain course so a little cooler I hope.

Please stay safe and have a good start toward the weekend. We get Monday off as a state holiday, Pioneer Day, so a long weekend here.

    Morning all:

OUCH! Mine just dropped to $4.299 and I just got the prepay price of $4.59 for the upcoming heating season. I will probably need oil around March of next year, that $4.59 may or may not turn out to be a deal, that's a flip of the coin!

OOOOOOOK, just called the coal man, couldn't get an exact price and will get the exact quote later today, she said it should be around $400 a Ton, last year it was less than $200 a Ton  , so 4 tons of coal will cost me around $1,600 instead of around $800, **#%&* REDICULOUS, this s*** has got to stop!

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gal! The good news is that we're lagging the record setting Austin temps, by a couple degrees anyway. The bad news, is that's still above 100* (all week long).
And more good news, the wife's blood clot is in the OLD vein, and the Dr. said not to worry at all about it. The bad news, is still on antibiotics for the foot swelling. Which may have had more to do with dropping a 3 hole punch on her foot, then getting bit right there by a fire ant! But, it's improving anyway.
Mowed and did wheel surgery yesterday. Which has to prompt this threadline....

How Much Tire Can I Put On My Troy-Built Without Cutting?

Yeah, everyone wants to know that! New wheel tire combo is actually a little rubberized, and the OEM is either a tad smaller, or really more worn than I thought. Stylish, exposed hex nuts on the new!

I have bit my tongue to many times (and it is sore as hell) over this as well as other topics Carl. I wonder how much a cord of wood is going for these days? Not as efficient as coal or oil but still an option for some folks. I hope you can get a decent deal  on oil and coal. 20 years ago, I paid $60 a ton for 4 ton of coal delivered and heated a 2400 square foot split level all winter on 3 ton. Had a ton to start the next year :D. Life was good then until the kids got old and moved out so now I had to carry in the buckets of coal :rofl:.
    Have a good one Carl.

    Morning Ken:
I have lots of wood on the property that I could burn. If I were younger I would definitely be considering switching over to a wood stove since the prices are going through the roof on other "fossil fuels". There are multiple guys that sell cords of wood in the area, like everything else, they keep raising the price also!
There is another option , buy a new EV to save money on gas, and install solar panels on the house, might cost $100k but look at the money I would be saving!

Morning again. I was looking at installing a heat pump. Wow the price is crazy. I’ll be dead by the time I get a ROI. Thanks

Awesome idea, so if you live to 120 years old you’ll probably break even. Sounds like a deal to me. I’m going for it. I figure if I buy 2 ev’s I’ll double my savings:rofl:
Energy costs are bad here in California but you all who are in cold snowy winter areas, your costs are going to break the bank. Older people who are on fixed incomes better bundle up.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/overheated folks. Energy price datum of the day: I just paid $5.75/gallon for ethanol free 87 octane. That's actually cheaper than it was a while ago. Gas in general is coming down around here.

I've heard of this happening to others, but never to me until now... Took the wife for a burger & fries. Not a cheap place, the best hamburger in town. She's wheelchair bound, and the door to the restaurant is not convenient. A man was standing there, holding the door when we got there. We thanked him and I commented on good timing, to which he replied "I saw you coming". His booth was in the back, and he waited till my wife was seated and the wheelchair stowed out of the way. I thanked him again, no further words were passed, and they left quietly. When I asked for my check, the waitress told us that it had been covered by the couple that was seated in the back. I think they call it "Pass it on". I will be on the lookout now for the next recipient of this really very nice gesture.
