Your 22 sounds great. After buying a used certified Tacoma 2021 OR premium with 10,500 miles i would never buy a new one again because you get 1 year factory warranty and seven years power train warranty. Mine had over two years of the original warranty left. Just my take,

I understand the attraction of buying certified used and I have looked, but, there was just nothing that popped up that had the things I would not compromise on. The ones that were close to what I wanted, were $1500-3000 more than this new one.

when I decided that I wanted a new(er) truck and started shopping, I felt like unfrozen caveman lawyer and didn’t understand this new world. I had gotten on the Toyota web site, built what I wanted and hot footed it down to my dealer to place the order. I was then informed that I didn’t get to place an order and that they got whatever happen to show up. And that I would also have the pleasure of paying an extra $2000. I did go to a different dealer and not have to pay the $2000. I suspect that this will be my last car purchase for my life time and will get what I wanted on it.

Oh i fully understand your thinking. I lucked out and got a 21 fully loaded with electric leather seats and only nine months old. I went to my local dealer and they told me i could not spec out a truck and order it because they only get what the company sends them. Hell of a attitude.

I experienced the same thing trying to find a used truck. The used truck prices were as much as or more than the new truck prices. Of course I had to put a deposit down on one of the "allocated" trucks, but luckily they had an allocation in the color and model I wanted that was expected in within six weeks (I got it in about 8 weeks), and I had to pay the dealer's price. However, I got a quality truck that I expect to have for many years.

Oh and the price of my 21 tacoma premium Access cab with every option was 39,000. They paid us 50 K for our 19 sport after i totaled it.killer deal that i could not believe. I usually by high and sell low. I think you got a fair price for your new truck. One thing i notice on my 21 is the transmission is great now and never hunts for gears. Also the motor runs harder when you nail it. Faster than the 350 V-8 chev pickup of the 70 and 80 years.

Thanks man, i wish i could say that this was a well researched find but it was all timing and dumb luck. $3k below MSRP was the regular thing for dealers prior to 2020, now it's like finding a needle in a hay stack.

If it wasn’t for dumb luck i’d have Bo lick at all.. or so the song goes. Dealers like that are good to deal with and have repeat customers .

What part of the country are you in? The dealers near me (in Dallas/Ft Worth) have this truck in stock, and I believe it has the same options that you want.

I’m in north Idaho. Our local dealer has an empty lot, so, I had to go to CDL and Spokane.

I just got my 22 SR5 DC 4x4 MGM on June 23. MSRP $37,318 + $498.95 dealership fee + $2506 sales tax (I didn't trade in anything). The total was 40323.xx. I really don't count sales tax on the price when comparing prices because they are all gonna have sales tax. I looked for a couple of weeks at used Tacomas around central Arkansas and the prices seemed as much or higher than new ones listed on car search websites. I finally decided I wanted an SR5, as for me it had most features I wanted at the price point i was after. I searched for new ones and found some listed on autotrader, cargurus, etc. They only showed the MSRP, so called on several of them and every one they showed in stock were actually not in stock. In fact, most dealership kinda laughed at the idea I would find one readily available to purchase. Many told me it would be atleast 3 to 6 months if I wanted to order one. Toyota of Louisville in Kentucy called me to tell me someone backed out of one they had ordered and if I wanted it, to let them know asap. I took it pretty much at that moment. Not much negotiations, as I could wait awhile of pay what they ask. They stated the truck was MSRP $37,318 + $498.95 dealership fee + $2506 sales tax (I didn't trade in anything). I had heard about some paying 2 to 3 grand markup, so I was fine with it. 2 days later I hopped on a plane and flew from Little Rock to Louisville. Truck was absolutely what i wanted! Spent 45 minutes looking at the truck and signing the papers. 7 hours later I was back in Arkansas with my new truck. I love it! I've added a blackout package-$50 running boards-$100, mud flaps-$20, front leveling/spacer kit (rough country)-$80+$120 for install and alignment, front tinted windows-$60, painted rear bumper covers-$160, and ordered some headlights with the led drls-$125, and bed lights-$20. Approximately $700 on all the add ons. Gotta get a wiring harness for the led drls, so just waiting on that for now!

This is more of a curiosity than a concern for me, but since I've been searching dealerships to find a truck that checks all the boxes for me, I've noticed that sometimes the window sticker lists the Technology package at $800, while other times it's listed at $770. I'm pretty sure I've seen these different prices on the exact same trims (TRD Off Road DCLB) and can't figure out the reason for the inconsistency. Anyone have a clue?

I have seen that too, on Toyota's website. When I search my area, the Tech Pack or Adv Tech Pack is one price, but it's higher or lower if I search on the west/east coast. I guess different regions get better price breaks than others? That's my best guess.

Edit: I have also seen that some areas, such as Florida, add a few options that Texas buyers don't get: USB plugs for the back seat passengers. I saw that as part of their Tech Package. I forget the dealer, but they were in the Tampa area.

That could be another reason in the price difference. You get another option.

Nevermind, I think I figured it out. It appears that I was mistaken and that the price for the tech package is $30 cheaper on the DCLB than it is on the DCSB. Now, I'm really not sure why the price would be cheaper for the same package on the long bed (especially since the wiring is likely longer), but at least it's not inconsistent like I originally thought.

Maybe yes and maybe no i never trust any car salesmen. When i bought our 21 taco used the factory gives you a seven year warranty plus any left from the three year warranty and a full one year if there is nothing left over from the originally warranty. The salesmen tried to sell me a seven year warranty for 2600.00 and also some tracking crap in case it was stolen for 500 a year. All bullshit. We paid cash and that cost them a couple of bucks they lost from financing it thro them.
