See the new videos updated in first post, one without the sound and one with the sound, under the truck. The one without the sound is how it pretty much sounded for the first 3 1/2 months. The sound start around 1600 miles.

 

Does not have give/show a code, my defected cab mount bushing did not give/show codes. Stuff like this usually does not give/show codes, until it is to late

 

your cab mount isnt monitored by the ecu. You just want to argue and complain. Grow up.

 

Well I have the 2.7 and no my truck does NOT have a knock. I also have the 3.5 in a 2019 Highlander and it doesn't have a knock sound either. The OP's truck does not sound normal and there is a reason for the sound. The question is what. Hopefully it is not an internal engine issue.

 

Go listen more close. My 3rg gen does it.

Plenty of youtube/threads on the 3.5 making knock type noises.

Why was the video without the knock made? Because you were already hearing the knock but it would come and go? Also, as you raised the camera up the knock became louder...making me think it is something outside the engine. I believe there is a high-pressure fuel pump...perhaps that.

 

Cause by what? There has to be a reason...and a decent engine will not make that kind of sound internally.

 

The 3.5 has a high pressure, cam driven fuel pump in the valve cover, its very loud at idle but very normal.

 

I have listened to others and none of them made the sound. Post a multi angle video (s) with the sound.

 

I've listened to your videos, they don't sound any different to the gen3 3.5 engine i've heard on other trucks in our water companies fleet, and they run the crap out of them everyday. For some oddball reason some of these engines are louder than others. You maybe got one of those. Unless its throwing codes, run it.

 

I have a 2.7 i4. It did not make that sound for the first 3 1/2 months.

 

Space was asking why the 3.5s made noise, I was answering him. I don't think the 2.7 has direct injection or a high pressure pump.

 

It started around 1600 miles. It could be something with the intake manifold, really does sound like it is coming from that area.

3.5 has been trolling me on my quest to find the same sound as my 2.7 online. most people just talk about the 3.5 noise.

 

This thread is silly but this is one of the silliest comments.

Not every issues comes with a code.

 

The 3.5 is a complete different design, they are noisy. The 2.7 is nothing like the 3.5, completely different engines.
