Very practical additions, not sure why they don't do the tailgate lock from factory.

Remote start wasn't specifically listed on my window sticker, and the dealership told me the truck didn't have it. So I paid an extra $500 for them to install an aftermarket one. Well, it turned out the truck already had it as part of whatever package.

Would love to hear what was shamefully said to you to cover their tracks when they realized their critical error and had to admit to you that they attempted to extort $500 to install something already installed; and the fact that any moron in the back or on the sales floor should be able to confirm install quickly and easily prior to the attempted extortion. Please, do tell the story in detail…

Parts guy tried to sell me one too.
To remote start, on your key fob, press lock twice then press a 3rd time and hold it.
Unclear to me if you have to set up the Toyota app first. You can remote start from there as well. You get a 1 year free trial of the connected services.

Glad I have a manual and don't have to deal with all that.

After further research mine has the premium package for access cab trd off road. There is only one premium package says it comes with remote connect. That translates to remote start I will find out for sure tomorrow.

This is remote connect, got the app on my phone. It was free the first year but a whopping $80 a year to continue. I bit the bullet and paid it. It does offer other little goodies like service records, driving habits and recalls. A high price to pay though for something most manufacturers offer for free.

That was only the start of the worst experience I ever had with a dealership. I didn't even get the fobs for the starter they installed because they claimed the tech lost them, along with my second Toyota key. I had to get corporate involved because I paid for $2000 worth of accessories up front that I was told would be installed in three days. 2 months later I could barely get them to return a call, let alone schedule installing anything. Toyota corporate gave me the runaround for about 2 weeks. They kept saying we had to give the dealership a chance to respond, after telling me several times they were going to intervene. Eventually they told me that there wasn't anything they could actually do for me, and I should get a lawyer because they broke the contract. There was no negative repercussions whatsoever for the dealership. Corporate's response to the whole situation changed my opinion of Toyota. After 20+ years of driving 4 Toyotas(3 Tacomas) that were purchased new, this will be the last one I ever own.
I did eventually get the money for the starter refunded. I should have demanded that they also remove it, and replace any wiring that was tapped. I was so fed up with them that I didn't care at that point though. I also got everything that was owed to me, plus a tank of gas. Which made up for everything:rolleyes:
Long story short, don't ever go to Toyota of Nashua in NH.

Damn that’s a horrible story. My truck might not look all that good to me if I’d been in your shoes. Glad you got your money back!

Man that’s enough to never go back there again…and also enough to go back to mess with them. Nothing illegal, just be a pain in the ass. Maybe walk into a busy lobby and speak openly of the incompetence located at that establishment once or twice a month. I’m petty about stuff like that though haha

I'm pretty sure it's just the production year. My '21 has a white/silver bedside decal. I believe the 2020s have the red one. Did they go back to red for 2022?

They’ve told me no fewer than 8 times, my subscription expired months ago but that little green light on the SOS button has yet to change to red. I don’t use the app because I don’t want my phone to control my truck but I do wonder if that SOS still works.

It would not have been so bad if I was actually treated like a valued customer. But after the sale nobody there gave a shit. My salesman couldn't even be bothered to be present when I took delivery.

Gotcha- yeah oddly enough I’ve never paid much attention to the SOS button. I did actually pay the $80 before losing service. Perhaps I’ll do it differently this year?

That wasn’t meant to dissuade you from using the app, I’m just paranoid of technology haha. This truck already has too much for my comfort level. I’m with ya though on your original point of it’s pricey for what other companies give ya for free. I think it also came down to me not really using the app much in the first few months of ownership because it seemed so foreign to me; so I didn’t use it enough to justify the $8 a month. I’m old for being 35 apparently haha
