This odd-optioned Camaro was not a special order, and the guy who bought it new in 1982 still owns it! He saw it in the showroom, liked it, and bought it. He even paid cash! The car has spent its entire life in a barn and is in 100% original condition! At forty years old, this 1980s time capsule had less than 39K original miles at the time I took the pictures!

 

In 1982, there were three trim levels...

Camaro (Base)
Berlinetta (Midlevel)
Z28 (Top trim)

The Z28 obviously came standard with a V8 engine, while a 4-cylinder was standard on the base model and a 2.8L V6 was standard on the Berlinetta. The 4-banger was not available on the Berlinetta, but the 2.8L V6 and the V8 were optional on the base model, and the V8 was also optional on the Berlinetta. This Camaro has the 2.8L V6, which makes about 40 less horsepower than my 2.7L Tacoma, and the standard 4-speed manual transmission; I find it funny that this car has almost no options, including A/C, but it has the quasi-luxurious Berlinetta trim with plush cloth seats...

 

The factory cassette stereo is not a Delco like you'd expect, but a Motorola...

 

Once again, it does not have A/C!

 

A lot of Berlinettas had a futuristic radio pod with a Walkman-style cassette deck, but this one does not...

Wasn't very popular but I had a 84 Camaro with the F41 package.

Suspension upgrade on the base model
