My 67 year old mom carries and shoots a Sig P365. She likes it

I carry the same thing and also like it. Its actually a really fun shooter despite it's small size and I find myself grabbing it over my glock 19 pretty much every time at the range.

SIG p238. Slide racks like butter and external safety to carry cocked and locked. Some might have issues with small pistols that have stiff recoil springs, not this one. Nice range gun for its size. Not snappy.

P938 as well if you want a 9mm caliber, it's my CCW and you can't beat Sig night sights

Agreed. I have the 9mm 938 one. It super easy to operate and for a tiny pistol is pretty accurate and easy to shoot.

That makes a lot more sense than any of the gobbledygook being strung together to simulate conversation.

You may look at the P365 from Sig. Its available in .380 and 9mm. If you can handle 9mm, I would recommend it over .380.

OP without knowing anything about the proficiency, experience and competence of the woman you want the gun for you can’t make an informed recommendation. In fact all the suggestions here are just shots in the dark so to speak. No one knows anything about the op’s female relative. How can you make a decision with zero information about the potential buyer. From the lack of information I am assuming the person is not very experienced or knowledgeable when it comes to guns and that is why you are gun shopping for her.
If I am correct I’d go with simple, a wheel gun like a S&W 38spl. Simple, simple, simple, easy easy easy. No safety, no magazine to worry about, no is there a cartridge in the chamber etc. With a revolver just pull it, point it, fire. However without more information that is just a guess on my part. Before getting what ever, you need to take her to the range, let her try various guns and see what she’s comfortable with. Also if you actually want an answer to your question provide a lot more information about the person you are getting the gun for.

When my wife took her CCW class, the Ruger LCR in any caliber was recommended for a woman or elderly that had weak hand and not proficient with tracking slides. All LCRs have a consistent trigger pull. The any caliber statement is argued but a 22lr is better than nothing.

whatever you choose, look into the PHLster Enigma as a carry method.

    working on it... :-)
My wife has mild arthritis in her hands, which will only worsen as the years go buy. I let her handle several of my autos but she struggled to rack even the littlest in my collection. Shooting a few different calibers, she struggled with recoil too, so she ended up getting a Taurus 942, 22mag, 8-shot w/3" bbl. I threw an Ameriglo front night sight on it, and a Veridian laser grip. She doesn't care for the blast much (LOL) but she can run a cylinderful and keep em in the black at 10 yards.

    Don’t go revolver. Suggest a smaller 9mm.

365 or Shield / Shield Plus

I have an LCRx, it has a pretty strong and long trigger pull.

I can empty a Glock 19 with a 15 round magazine in about the same amount of time it takes me to squeeze out five rounds, and with much more accuracy with the Block.

Finding a carry gun so many factors come into play.

just like finding a good fitting Bra.

Remember that when you go smaller, especially in a polymer pistol, the "snappier" the recoil. Instead of going with a "micro 9," maybe go with something a little larger...possibly a mid-size polymer pistol.

Bottom line: she needs to shoot multiple pistols to determine what she prefers.
