Go figure, coworker tried riding his Harley to work today. Just got a text from him two and a half hours after he was supposed to be here. "I'm stuck at a gas station in limp mode."

97 today with a real feel about 101 . Been in the pool this week most afternoons . Taking the pontoon out on the lake today

 

Oh no.. maybe in overheat mode.

 

Well, did something (kinda) necessary this am.
My 8000 btu ac for the front of the house is like 300 years old..
And heavy as fuck.
Soooooo
I went and bought another 8000.
Has to weigh 15 lbs less.
I can pick it up and move it around no problem.
Where I have to store it is murder on the back.
Fan slightly noisier because rpm’s are higher.
Did a efficiency test.
Old ac 49.5° outlet temp.
New ac 44.5° outlet temp.
Hate spending money on stuff that ain’t broke but,
saving my back is back insurance..

 

That's about where we're at today. A little above average for us....but not unheard around here in July and August. I think we have a bit of a cool down around Monday or Tuesday

 

So a cousin of mine gave me an old clock that's been in the family for about 190 years. Supposedly it functioned when it was put away in 1981. It was in several prieces. Got most of it back together. That bottom glass was tricky as it was in 5 pieces.....but original. So I wanted to save it. She'll just be decoration from now on.

Should have taken some before shots. But I didn't.



The weights are crazy heavy. Rather than attach them to the mechanism and have them hang in the tracks, I just ran new string up and over the wooden pulleys for looks and sat them on the bottom of the case and added some small tacks to help keep them on place. If nothing else it will help make it bottom heavy and more stable.





It's missing the legs. But I have a picture from 1955 of it sitting on my great aunt's mantel and the feet were missing then. But hell, even in 1955 this thing like 120 years old.

This is an example of one it great condition. The glass is different. But the clock maker would customize it depending on the buyers request.
