Got tired of waiting and grabbed a 22' Frontier Pro4x in black.
    Zero regrets.

The order process has become quite ridiculous. Back in 2018, my old 2018 TRDOR in quicksand was just sitting on the lot, waiting for a buyer. When I traded that in Feb. 2021, I had to wait for the new truck to get built but that only took 2ish months (delivered late April 2021).

My father on the other hand, placed an order for a 2022 Tundra Platinum in January 2022. He had just been told that he'd get his Tundra late July 2022. At this point, I'm just happy for him that he'd get his truck.

After reading alot of this thread I got lucky with my 2022 DCSB TRD Sport. Went into the dealership on a whim an asked a sales rep if they had any manuals in transit or allocated and he told me it would be a year atleast if I put an order in. The sales manager happened to be walking by an over heard, they had 1 that was 'sold' but not received. Guess a business ordered it but didnt pick it up (prolly cause it was a manual). Told them I was interested and got the deal done after a few days (they had to confirm the business didnt want it). So i got a 'used' 2022 with 35kms on it. Felt like it was meant to be.

IT's not really the order process though, it's the lack of inventory. People are waiting such a long time because there's so few trucks being made and so many people that want one.

I called Strickland Toyota in Stratford Ontario where I ordered a dbcb Trd sport on March 18th, had been told 3-6 months wait. I was told today that they have a "pipeline " ofabout the next 3 months supply and my truck isn't in it. They said call back in 6 months. Year long waits are the norm.
I'm thinking I'll take my money elsewhere, also wondering if they want ppl to give up so they can make more cash. I asked what happens if someone backs out of their order, she sàid they need more rentals or shuttle vehicles. That's complete crap.

I’m waiting for my solar octane TRD pro but I’m scared to see how long it is actually going to take. I’ve been without a vehicle for 4 months already and it is becoming very difficult to share one car with my wife.

You are lucky that your dealership reply to your message. but they are totally useless before they get an allocation from Toyota. They don't have any information before an allocation.

I was told that my order was changed to a 2023 a couple of weeks ago. Then last week, my dealer called me stating my 2022 OR Prem MGM was finally allocated with expected delivery by mid September... only ordered it the first week of November. Now, what addons do I want to get?

Month ago our salesman told us TRD Premium Army Green is no longer available so we'll have to get a 2023 in another color so we said silver.

I stopped in the dealer yesterday and they had a silver TRD Premium in the showroom and someone was putting a sold sign on. I thought my truck is in only to be disappointed.

Our salesman changed our order to a 2023 so our name didn't come up for the one in the showroom. What's worse is when Army Green wasn't available the salesman didn't tell us we could sill get silver.

Unfortunately, unspoken for trucks are been sold with accessories (markups), they are not even advertised on dealers websites. They simply call guys who are okay paying extra $10,000 plus in accessories and warranties.

Where are you located? Accessories are not considered markup, unfortunately. Take it or leave it, otherwise order what you want, wait for it and pay the correct price. It’s illegal to sell over advertised price in Canada.

I went to a dealer that had a used 2022 with 250 kilometers for $6000 over MSRP. They told me it was returned because a guy bought it without getting permission from his wife.

A month later I went back to the dealer and they had another used 2022. This one had a 120.00km. While I was there they showed me another Tacoma that had just been purchased by the manager. When I saw it had Alberta plates it dawned on me what they were doing. The trucks are register in Alberta so they don't loose the 7% BC tax then driven around for a few days and sold as used.

I guess there’s nothing illegal in selling used trucks at whatever price they want, as long as it’s sold used. Not sure it’s ethical for them to buy the trucks, put some kms on them and then sell them at a higher price… Toyota Canada wouldn’t like to hear about this.

Last I checked they are adding more km and increased the price. A 2022 4Runner with 1000km was $10k over MSRP. I guess people are paying it.

Dealers doing this are digging their own graves and they are thinking very short term. Why do we need dealers for new purchases ? Only to inflate the market?

Car makers will soon push them out for this business and leave them only for service. Can’t wait to order my Toyota online and get it delivered to the place of my choice. Sure, we will pay for preparation but that we will be it. No more paying for someone totally useless in the transaction.

I don't mind the dealer model. I've bought many car/trucks over the years and like doing negotiations. Getting $15k off msrp was a thing a few years ago, hopefully it will be again once the recession takes its toll.

But on the other hand going online and ordering a vehicle and having it delivered to your house without stepping foot out the door also sounds appealing on some level.
