We’ve had a CRV before and she won’t own another Honda, if she can help it. Some reason she doesn’t like the Rav but I’ve tried before. Maybe the cross is an option…
I like the look of the new Sequoia but those are two much for the three of us and our dog does not like car rides.

When my daughter totaled my wifes Highlander she wanted to downsize. Tried the Rav4 and she wasnt impressed with the interior. I wanted to stay with a Toyota because of your past experience with them. Jones was adding the DAP to the Rav4's so we went and looked at a new Lexus NX250 AWD and bought it the same day. No markup. It was about the same price as Jones wanted for a Limited Rav4. She loves the NX so far.

Actually, I prefer the label "redneck metrosexual".

Your not going to get much clearance with any modest lift. What you will get is a safer vehicle offroad with a suspension system that will sustain itself longer than stock. Most upgrades to suspension can just be better shocks or struts with zero lift. They just work better.

Now, with that said, you can certainly do things to mitigate getting stuck by "lifting". But your only going to really benefit by adding taller tires ( @fatfurious2 has those 35s you could try out for cheap to help decide, or use as a wheeling only set ).

Suspension only lifts the body, and not things like your locked rear. That's where 35s and that KDMaxx tune from Dave (sorry Dave can't remember your forum name) would really come in handy. Would be nice too in the winter to protect your summer set from salt.

But as far as suspension goes, expect to pay around $3k all said and done for something your going to enjoy, trust, and that will last. After settling you should be able to get around 2" of lift. 3" or more and you start to change your driveline angles. Then you have to compensate, and no biggie, but...... it's like I tell the wife, why do with 12" what I can do with 2.

I do like lifted trucks tho. My Bronco back in the day rode on like 38s and had a 3" suspension lift, and, a 3" "body" lift (essentially very large, thick spacers spaced at various points along the frame rails, like 3 or 4 per side). It was a beast with that 351 Cleveland V8. It went anywhere I pointed it.

Before we were even married, I let Deb drive it. We were so giddy. I was happy she was taking an interest. It was also at that time that the power steering fluid hose that had been frequently laying on the engine block finally had its last degree, and burst. We were doing about 40ish. Death wobble is an understatement. She's only ever driven our 2016 4runner, and just once. But she's a great driver so I know she could drive the Taco too.

    Back to you though.

I think you're going to benefit from a OME BP51 setup, or a Pro setup, or Icons, or Bilstiens, but in that $2.5k - $3.5k range. And that price includes paying for some things some guys do themselves, like pre-mounted front springs. You're going to save the most doing it all yourself of course but you will (maybe) need help. Also, the price includes UCAs, my preferred option is JBA Std High Castor UCAs.

If you haven't done the ECGS Bushing mod, add that.

With your tires, or David's 35s, your locker, a winch, the tune, and a serious suspension upgrade you're going to definitely be able to go deeper into the woods and get stuck

Oh, and don't forget armored bumpers. You can't slide over stuff without it. It also lessens the need to "lift" as much. Watch some off road rollover vids to see why.

All in all it sounds like a great plan and so far is coming along nicely.

Tires sold yesterday for $150. No one wanted 5 ST Maxx that could have been used for another year + ....

Also sold my Dakar leafs for super cheap.

The only thing left is a set (or 2 pairs) of 3/4" Bora spacers. $100 shipped for 2, or $180 shipped for all 4. Could also deliver

When we stopped about a year ago it was 5k on every model. That amount on a Corolla is crazy. Twenty-five percent over sticker.
