That reminded me of a story. Back in the 80's my wife's Camaro had a weird metal-to-metal sound when taking corners or curves. I was sure it was the rear bearings so I replaced them. PITA. Anyway, that didn't solve the problem, so I took it to a small shop hoping they could suggest a solution. It took the guy about 1 minute to trace it to the cooling fan clutch.

So if Toyota makes an appointment at another dealership you will go but you won’t call another dealership make an appointment to have the engine knock checked. I’ve been in the automotive field for over 40 years, 10 at a dealership starting out (flat rate) then on my own. There are always people that want to take short cuts but there are also many that take pride in there work.
You keep throwing Lemon around but that can’t be done until you make an appointment and bring it to get diagnosed. Toyota does have a fair shot to repair this issue. It just sounds like you like to complain a lot and throw around laws like your a lawyer not an IT guy. Sell it get a Silverado then you can really complain.

btw- warranty work at the dealership use to be cake work, especially when it was a slow day.

Already working with Toyota on it. Yes, Toyota has a fair shot, never said I'm not giving them a fair shot at fixing.

I started writing something along these lines and then gave up...realizing that some people's social skills just aren't capable of pulling it off.

Agree. Try taking it to Rannyhill's dealer, they're giving him a new truck for his "Oil Change Disaster"

i don't know if that's how trade-in's are handled elsewhere, but in the chicagoland area, it's always been sales staff that handle the trade-in from start to finish, they don't normally send the trade-in to the service bays until after the deal is all done, and only in a case like this where the vehicle is new/low mileage enough to drop on their own lot. anything higher mileage, or in less than stellar condition, they just send it to auction.

fair warning; all my 'sure, you can quote it for a trade' dealer experiences have been with vehicles with at least 110,000 miles on them, which makes most dealer staff nearly physically sick. apparently, any vehicle over 100k mi is as unstable as sweating old dynamite, and can turn the area into hiroshima at any second...

my brother has been a dealer tech for about 15 years now, the only pre-trade vehicle that they've ever brought to him before finishing the deal to look over was a hummer h2 trade-in that 'had a vibration' on the test drive. the guy had hung it up on a boulder, candy-caned the drive shaft, while cracking the t-case, was trying to dump it.

in this case, i don't believe the noise is loud enough to really cause concern for most other people that didn't know it was already an issue.
