    :spending:

Went to lowes after we closed the store and got some stones, concrete, post, and a folding picnic table for the play area spruce up project.

I put 2 new batteries in the Duramax earlier this year, left the trailer plug hooked up last Saturday when I bush hogged and had to jump it off :annoyed:

My wife ask why do we need the trailer? Around 3,500 lbs in stone and 800 in concrete, the truck would have that Carolina squat and that ain’t me o_O

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I didn't get as far on my pick up things and organizing as I wanted to yesterday. It got pretty hot out but today supposed to be 15° cooler than yesterday.
I seen some of the post times and wondered if others had some difficulty sleeping. I was tempted to take some advil PM about 2 in the morning but didn't want to wake up at 10 AM with a hangover

    Morning folks! :hattip:

Welll yesterday turned into a shit show at work...

Started off all good, clocked in a little after 12. Tinkered around with a couple things, a few easy sort calls when the sort started at 2pm. That sort ended around 5:15pm so I did get a chance to eat my dinner. Checked the weather radar as there was possibly some weather coming in. Hmm, severe watch. Sort starts at 6pm and I check the weather and it's now a severe thunderstorm warning. Hmm. I go outside and the sky is black and green. Ruh-roh. Couple minutes later I had to go to the central command to look at an issue of a wrong destination, we all couldn't figure it out and I went searching for answers. Meanwhile the sky is looking pretty friggin' nasty. All of a sudden the power blinks. Well chit. Alright guys lets go and start resetting panels. Nope, power blinks again. And again, and again. This happened 5 times within 2 minutes and then the power stays off. Well crap. We have a 16 cylinder CAT diesel generator that can run the building, but luck has it (to not go into detail) we can't use it due to switchgear issues. We go to the switch gear room and flip all the "switches" of important equipment in case the blinking happens again. Call the power company and they aren't aware of the situation yet. Oh FFS! Meanwhile the truck entrance gate won't open, so I grab a handful of keys and hop in the Kubota that has a cab on it. Super low on diesel as usual, but there's an issue with the injection pump and it's acting weird. Rain and wind is coming down pretty hard at this point and even if I do make it there I'm not getting out in the downpour and lightning. I finally coax it back to the shop barely. Find a rain suit and hop in the other Kubota that has an open cab, but the rain at this point has died down a good bit. I get out to the gate, wrong keys. Crap! Get back to the shop and get another set, nope! Now there's a whole line of trucks waiting to get in. The only set was across the street at the "truck lot", so my ass had to go and walk over there! Got the keys and got the gate manually opened. Go back to the shop, couldn't really do anything. Power company responded back and it's gonna be several hours out. Meanwhile a couple 3rd shift guys called out so it was almost gonna be the lottery system of who has to stay over (woulda been me since I'm one of the more experienced) but one of my co-workers volunteered. When I left at 11pm power was still off... I bet there was a lot of fried VFD's...

Sounds about like a normal day . Though to some a normal day is setting in the office in the AC napping.

I never had any luck finding one of those boring sitting in the office jobs.

There has to be a really Good story behind why the Cat Gen set issue was not addressed . Switch gear this has to be good.

There's two sides of power from the grid coming in. Well a little under a couple years ago one side blew up (literally, nothing like a whole switch gear room up in smoke) and replacement parts are not available. They're tied together now, but in order to run the generator that switch has to be opened. Well the contacts are pretty much welded together at this point so even if we get it open they likely wouldn't close again. Meanwhile we're getting a different generator and a different switch gear is finally on order. There's a lot more to this, but I've probably shared more than I should have.
