Then he is fucked and lost his money to a con artist or whatever he is. Lesson learned never pay cash in private sales those are red flags. Not sure if he will ever get his money back or his problem resolves before he does lose the truck someday.

 

I haven’t read the whole thread but didn’t you purchase insurance for the scam truck?

 

Great question as the insurance would of looked into it before insuring him so I still think it's a troll fucking with us.

 

Insurance is required before title transfer and registration in Texas, I don’t know about other states. I’m guessing he would have been able to file a claim and get his money back.

The truck should have been returned to the bank since they hold the title. They could then sell it and get their money back.

Yes, the insurance company would have been screwed, but that is what insurance is for. Their risk comes with the territory.

This whole thread is fishy.

 

Sounds like OP is trying to wait out the statute of limitations for grand theft. Which is freaking stupid. By waiting and not trying to get the issue corrected, the bank will still be able to take the truck back but he has lost any hope of the cops tracking the seller down and recovering his money.

No it doesn’t. It screams I paid 30K+ to someone who ripped me off and I’m trying not to lose it all.
