I hate that manufacturers do stuff like that. If I'm offroad in my TRX and have it in the mode I want it reverts to the auto mode every time I shutdown. My Q8 did the same thing, always reverted to auto mode on power off. I don't know why they can't just have the vehicle remember it's last mode and stick with it.

I just did a quick Paint(app) job of what I think they should have done with the front end on the Rivian. It's crude, but you get the idea.

    Oh look, another mod....

I gotta admit, I like the look of it even more now. It has a more aggressive face to it. The current style reminds me of Mr. Peabody's glasses.

I'd take an electric truck in a heartbeat, I just don't want to take a 30 year mortgage to buy one. :anonymous::anonymous:

I like the Rivian but I need to go further than 100 miles per charge.

Looks better, maybe a Pro version would liven it up.

It's not a bad looking truck, and I like understated styling on a truck. I just don't look at the Rivian and think wow, I got to be behind the wheel of one.

I'm pretty certain the designer was sitting at home working on sketching the truck, finished up and got up to go grab a late night beer and his five year old got up on the chair and drew in the headlights. The dude was tired after a long day and didn't notice it before turning in the design.

Good news is you can go 300 miles on a full charge if you aren't towing.

How much is a Rivian OTD?

You could probably be in a F-350 Tremor, King Ranch, or Platinum for the same price. Yeah you'd have to pay for diesel, but if I'm driving a $100k for fun, I can probably afford the price of diesel.

Different trucks for different tasks, but still.

Personally, as far as EV trucks go, i would rather have the F150 lightning over the Rivan just based on looks.

Right, it's cheaper to charge than to fill a tank of gas, but keep in mind that for what the Rivian costs before you've even charged it up once, lets call it $85k, you can buy a Tacoma and put 180,000 miles on it. $40k for the Taco, and $45k for 10,000 gallons of gas at $4.50 per gallon. You've got to put another $9k into your Rivian for the same 180,000 miles.

For sure, the Rivian is not a money saver compared to buying a cheapish truck like a Tacoma. If you compare it to a higher trim full size truck though it can save money while providing about the same interior luxuries and equal hauling/towing capacities (with range limitations).

I applaud first adopters (and investors) but I am wondering if the writing is on the wall for Rivian. Ford, GM, and Toyota will soon be mass producing PHEVs and EV trucks and I'm just not sure what market share will be leftover.
