IIRC, it is supposedly easy to unplug / disconnect?

The first one. Try starting and idling with the Stock tune, if it takes.

Whats the difference in the two files that come with VFTuner for 89663-04B82.vfc vs 89663-04B81 STOCK.vft

    vft vs vfc?

VFT and VFC are effectively the same, but all newer files will be VFC.

But, do note that the first one was for 04B82 and the second was for 04B81. :D

Tech Stream can connect to the truck but only if I tell it what kind of vehicle it is. All the drop downs except the last two, typically auto populate. This time I had to select them all. I ran a Health Check but I can't attach a *.TSE file. Doesn't show the ECU read/calibration anywhere, just other stuff. Also Tech Stream is unable to read the VIN as it typically does upon connecting.

That difference is a bummer. I have had to fill in all the info on a few Tacos, but none were ever a problem.

I think it was said to try flashing now? @Shellshock ?

I'm waiting for @GoldenBrew to bring his battery tender over so we can plug that in before any further flashing attempts are made. Also, I saw an instruction yesterday before things went haywire that said to leave your hood open. Last time around about a year ago, I distinctly remember it saying to NOT have your hood open. Any input to whether it matters?

The hood thing is in the official Flashing TSB. See the first attachment in the 1st Post. The flash may be interrupted if the under hood temps exceed 158F or something like that. I have never popped a hood to flash. Having yours closed was likely not an issue. I think you were on track with the voltage drop?

Voltage drop makes the most sense, but still, it was only ever at high 11's. I watched the entire time, that and the progress bar are pretty much the two things I keep an eye on. But who knows if I missed a blip, that is all it would take from what I understand.

Agreed. That is what vF Tuner has noted in the past.

Yup. That’s what I did. Basically just the “connect to vehicle” in tech stream. Then I closed ts and launched vF and it worked. Don’t key cycle or anything, just straight from one to the next.

I see ok. GoldenBrew is almost here. We'll put on the battery tender. Then, I'll put the truck in IG mode, engine off, connect with TechStream, close TechStream. Launch vfTuner and try Force Flash Gen 2 with the 89663 - 04B82.vfc file until it takes. Then turn off the truck, and then start the truck with the foot on the brake.

If that works then we'll try the Stryker tune on top.

If that takes but doesn't start the truck, then we'll repeat step 1 and try the 04B82 Magnuson tune (Ryan just emailed me the 04B82 variant for my truck)

No Joy. After vfTuners failed attempt at Force Flash Gen 2, subsequent attempts can not be made without restarting vfTuner because doing so throws the following message:

    UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_1c09.jpg

    So that means
    turning off the truck
turning on the truck to IG no engine
    start techstream, connect
    close techstream
start vfTuner, attempt force flash gen 2, fail with the following message:

    UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_1c0b.jpg

    Times 6, no joy.

I get that message at times. Disconnect and restart everything including the computer.

Have you tried hitting Prepare ECM for normal.flash following opening and closing Techstream? Just on a whim
