    It’s supposed to be the second payload on the Vulcan…

    It’s part of the CRS-2 contract but as we’ve seen with Starliner, contracts are only guidelines.

    :notsure:. I’ve read the link and although they’ve moved to the development stage, it mentions they’re considering rideshare options. I’m sure more info will come out seeing the launch window is in 2 years.

    Rideshare, but limited by max payload. They're also trying to turn their second stages into functioning satellites which is an interesting concept since most of those either end up burning up in the atmosphere or a graveyard orbit. Apparently the one for the moon mission had a bunch of sensors on it that could have done a lot of the work of the probe it sent... And as they start manufacturing more and more satellites on their own that will only improve.

    It's reasons like this that I like private companies. They hit success and then keep moving forward instead of just continuing what works. We'll likely see SpaceX doing several versions of starship. A telescope starship, a space station pod starship, a starlink starship, a cargo starship, refueler starships, lunar lander starships.
