4xe will be canceled by 2025, Stellantis is pulling out of China, the market the 4xe was designed for. EVs will be out by 2030.

If it makes you feel any better the load they're towing exceeds the Taco's towing capacity and it wouldn't get up the grade at all.

But yes, towing is bad for range, for sure.

 

All vehicles suffer worse mpg when offroading.....I think I got 1mpg on a trail in Moab once.

Also you havent proven anything and, no, my original comment is quoted below, so the only person incorrect here is you. And for reference I said 100 miles because I didnt think it necessary to say 118 which was the real world towing test I saw.

Yup. Towing a car trailer with a car got me down to about 15 mpg (going 60mph lol).

 

If it helps any slow speed crawl is something EVs are great at.

 

You're being obstinate and you're incorrect while being it, it's unhelpful. We've disproven the 100 miles per charge and we've disproven the 32 hour Denver to Moab. I think that's enough here, even if you won't admit you had grave misunderstandings about electric vehicles. Hopefully we've at least educated you on the different charging rates!

Hey, that's not too bad. My Taco gets 15mpg without any payload at all!

Go look at the evolution of the conversation, you are lacking a significant amount of context and adding your own personal assumptions.

 

Maybe if you're not using DCFC.. but in that case a couple of those hours could be L2 at a hotel while you're asleep.

Rivian might be successful with their delivery van. I don't know about their truck and SUV, and it won't be because they don't have a decent product. I don't think they will be able to make enough money to stay in business.

Ford could easily supplement Amazon's van order if Rivian closed their doors.

To be very clear: it takes 13 hours to charge at 220V which is a rate slower than any EV charger you'll ever encounter on a road trip. You literally couldn't find an EV charger to charge you at that rate. You'd have to charge at an RV park with a 3 prong outlet and even then you'd get a better charge rate.

If you don't understand how EV function and how charging works on the road, that's OK. But at least be open to learning.

 

What parameters were applied my statement? Did I say which level, which voltage? Did I say 20-80%? No to all of those.

Why the hell are you charging to 100%?! That isn’t how you road trip an EV.

 

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Rivian is good value for the money, it's in a weird spot between a full size and a mid size, and EVs don't have great towing ranges (gotta DCFC every 100 miles or so). But it's a sweet rig otherwise, if those aren't things you care about.

Me, I like the F150 Lightning Pro more, especially with the V2H power export feature.

 

Yes, you proposed a scenario that would never happen. That scenario is correct. But again, it will never actually happen.

Here's a helpful article on how people actually charge. You picked the "13 hours full charge" instead of the "140 miles in 20 minutes" lines of the article and doulbed down on it. That's OK. You can be right about the 220V charge rate. But I'll be right about how long it takes to drive from Denver to Moab.

If you're driving to Denver to Moab and want to break into someones place to unplug their dryer to charge at the slowest possible rate instead of stopping at an EV charger, you can absolutely do that. I won't, though.

 

It's just an example and one that no one is focusing on but you EV zealots. You can quickly see that conversation around charging focused on quick charges not much longer than 45 minutes.

Ya and its one we didnt even talk about, do you not know how to follow a conversation? Did we discuss a 13 hour charge or more like 45 minute charges? NO ONE is actively talking about it except you

 

You could fully charge your rivian using the electrons you saved by not having weekly internet arguements about whether to change oil at 5k or 10K.
