Pulled up next to one at a stop sign. Looked at the guy driving and I wanted to ask him what he thought of it, but his wife gave me a shitty look, so I just waved. Doubt the bed will really get used for “regular” truck purposes.

Yeah, not to mention being loaded down off road. At least you can bring jerry cans.

Luddites were opposed to the mechanical production of goods.

I don't think they would have been for the mass production of automobiles propelled by the internal combustion engine.

Yeah, my XC60 with air suspension in off road has higher clearance than a stock Taco but I also run Nokian Hakka's as skinnies with a little less air than spec on both the SUV and the Truck. I'll happily take both out on a 6ft powder day but the SUV always feels a little safer.

Hah, yup. I take the Taco out if I'm feeling in a good mood and might want to rescue some tourists.

Ya thats a good point, range anxiety is a real thing, even for gas. To your point, someone can always bring you more gas, they can't bring you a charge.

This is why I think the F150L is actually revolutionary vs the R1T. The inverter on the F150L can output 7.6kW (e.g., 32A at 240V) and actually charge other EV.

you know some may argue that an electric 4x4 is better...

some may even say electric 4wd motors are the future

just imagine if you could control your torque better, some real mind bending things :transformer:

Finely tuned torque delivery with one motor per wheel is fucking sick in the snow, for sure.

Again, who wants to go in with me to make LI-ion booster packs shaped like 5gal water or gas tanks? I need an angel investor and some Silicon Valley bros.

I have no problems with eAWD. Motor-per-wheel seems a little excessive though, but hey, there's a reason why the R1T costs double a Taco.

I wonder what everyone's reaction would be if the Taco does get the Crown drivetrain (FWD w/ eAWD) heh.

They’d immediately start saying that it’s the best solution available and Toyota must know what they are doing.

Biggest problem is lithium batteries just have less energy density than a gallon of gasoline. 5 gallons of fuel will get ya close to a hundred miles. Equivalent volume of batteries might get ya 20.

Sure, just the weight/cost of a diff/axle+lockers might be a little less than that of a second motor.
