Cotton wood sucks as a fire wood. But yeah, a lot of mulch anyway.
Just chatted with the guys, they said both trees are coming down.

if you have allergies, the smoke will trigger that and the wood doesn't burn clean, leaves a lot of creosote buildup, more frequent chimney cleanings, more frequent chimney fires. I know this because I used the shit for home heat for a couple years before I wised up.

Super excited about finally being able to clay bar the paints, get the sap off once and for all, not having to deal with a fuck ton of leaves in the fall, not giving a shit if the wind blows, dropped branches, etc... Gonna miss the shade a bit but I'll get over it.

As much as I hate to see a big old tree like this come down, this really made my day. It's one of those stories that comes to a really satisfying conclusion. The devil in me says you should go over later and ask him how much it cost him to take it down, with a glass of whiskey and big smile.

there are a half dozen or more misplaced squirrels. That tree is riddled with holes and shit.
They hooked on to the upper left fork, started cutting and the damn thing cracked. Which caused all work to come to a halt while they think it thru. They got a guy going up now to re-rig some shit. I think the branch split.

A few years back, the neighbor across the street had a giant elm tree in her backyard. One guy removed it, alone, with ropes and pulleys. Took him about a week. It's chronicled in here somewhere.

    That sounds fan fucking tastic.

When my old man and I lived in VA; we had a 1.5 acre lot which was completely untamed or managed. For those 3 years we were there I was Climbing and dropping 40/50 ft poplar trees every weekend. 8 ft at a time. It was a ton of fun to drop em, and split em, but alllllll of the inbetween was not fun.
