I’ve been working on some wheels for a bicycle that I haven’t built yet. The frame is just a sketch right now. But I have wheels. This one came from a girl’s bike. It’s a nominal 16”

I soaked up spokes and hoop in old used brake fluid in the hot desert sun. It turns the paint to “rubber”, and it just peels right off.

Truing up. It was 110°F outside so I did this assembly in my office.

I've had a MTB for about 2 months now and I'm already trying to buy another lol. I want something with a tapered headtube for future modification and air forks. Then my old bike can be kept and used for my non-biking friends or siblings to come with me and try and get them hooked haha

you can still get decent XC forks in 1 1/8 straight steerer. Fox still makes new forks and I just got a Suntour straight steerer air fork for my bike.

    BBUUTTT
anyone see the term E-SUV used before? looking at forks on Fox and its a whole thing?
    upload_2022-7-25_15-5-23.jpg

    Heres a, E-SUV Bianchi
    https://www.bianchi.com/e-suv/

Would this be more for suron type machines? dont those normally run dual crown forks?

    logical? no way.

i bought that suntour fork for the bike that is pretty much the same use as yours, friends and other people and as a spare for when your main bike is down.

i also got a new rockshox fork for my other bike this year. it never ends. (maybe i can find a good deal on rock shox rear shock and be full SRAM/RockShox)

    Yeah.
I searched previously and I think Suntour was about the only option for a 1 1/8, but it does look like Fox has an entry-level fork now.

As far as that e-SUV thing, I couldn't find anything other than that Bianchi bike using that term. Seems like it is a road/trail/mountain concept that does everything (or tries to) -- their bike even has integrated lights. Seems kind of like a sleeper sofa. It can do both, but not a great bed or sofa.

e-SUV as a bike term seems like a silly way to describe what would be an e-cargo bike...right?

To be honest though, people are just gonna confuse this category of bike with an actual electric SUV, that is to say...a car.

Ha, I was thinking the same thing. Poor bastard, how did you get talked into FL in summertime? I did a work trip that time of year once....and only once. Made sure I never had a reason to go back until cooler months.

I rode Doris Leeper once, and didn't think it was very interesting. A better place that's not much further away is Graham Swamp by Palm Coast. It has some pretty fun rock features, wooden ramps and jumps. Not a ton of trail but well built and you can loop it. I rode Mt Dora as well. Looking at the map it's even closer to Orlando. But is the smallest of the trail systems. That said it had more elevation gain/loss so the builders were able to make a bit more interesting features out of it. Of the smaller trail systems I liked Chuck Lennon the best. Some challenging log rides and ramps, and short steep sections to keep things interesting. Can't say it would be worth it to rent a bike and travel to any of those.

Alafia and Balm Boyette are larger systems and more worth visiting. The one I liked best though was Loyce Harp aka Carter Road. It's a bit closer to Orlando as well. Really fun trails that I'd go out of my way to hit again. https://www.trailforks.com/region/loyce-harpe-park/ This is where I'd go if I only had time for 1 ride.

Thought I'd post a little review of the Offering after a bit more saddle time...

It's amazing! I'm not sure how much of the difference between this bike and my Rallon is higher end build components or the bike itself, but the Offering is better in almost every way. It's light and efficient on the climbs. I was able to clean a steep and technical climb fairly easily on this bike that I struggle to clean on the Rallon. It's also comfortable and fast on more pedally stuff where you're just turning over the hardest gear your legs can handle; doesn't feel too long or un-wieldy. On the descents, with a 160 fork and Push 11-6, it's plenty capable of riding anything we have around the SLC/Park City area and I've only been running it in the higher geometry setting so far. I recently descended Red Bull (a local double black that is steep and loose) and felt every bit as comfortable on this bike as the Rallon. The only place that the Rallon has a very slight advantage is on long and reeeaaaalllly chunky rock gardens, the Rallon just seems to handle the repeated chunk with less fuss. Everything else I've ridden, the Offering feels faster and better; more nimble to turn, bunny hop, and even handles small bumps better (likely due to the upgraded suspension).

For me, this is the dream bike. It's light and hyper-efficient to climb which is important to me since I like a long pedal to get to my descending. Without a doubt, it's still more than enough capability to descend anything I want to. The only situation I can imagine wanting a bigger bike is for a bike park day, but that's mostly so I wouldn't beat up on this thing so bad.

I thought I was going to get into the pump track and dual slalom scene (again) but I just ride my trail bikes so much more and don't make the time to take it out like I should in order to justify keeping it.
