That year I had several mobile off highway equipment applications that were located from Georgia to the Great Lake region. Another year I had a special project located 200 miles from home. Many weeks I left on Tuesday 0dark thirty and came home late Thursday night.
I know technical sales engineers that drive close to 100K a year within their region.
Some delivery guys (think hotshot with a little truck) that can go well over a 100K a year.
Let's say 400 miles a day, five days a week is 96,000 a year. That is about seven hours a day driving.

Even if they do show you something there’s benefit to being under your hood and under your truck a little more often. You just might spot something before it gets out of hand.

And for those guys who might say They get under their truck periodically to just check on things are probably the same ones who say a Fumoto valve drains oil too slow for them. If they are going to spend some time under their truck “just “ to check things then they are spending more than the extra 4 minutes it takes to drain the oil from the Fumoto.

I find so many here who get so frazzled with simply the thought of an oil change taking 5 more minutes then a world record time. They could probably benefit from taking a deep breath and relaxing a bit more- holy smokes!

I’ve got a question. I was just thinking… why is it there are many on these oil threads who DON’T change their own oil? I don’t plan on lifting my truck which is why you don’t find me reading, let alone POSTING, on those threads. Inquiring minds would like to know.

235,000 on a '81 Chevy 1/2-ton when I sold it. 413,000 on the '93 4-Runner under the awning on the side of the house right now. 293,000 on the '97 Chevy I just sold. 187,000 on the '07 Ranger in the driveway. ~187k and 196K on two Corollas the wife and I owned when we sold them. Drove the dogshit outa' mine. 183,000 on a Tercel when I sold it, double the dogshit. 217,000 on a Ford Focus. All changed at 3000 miles. That's way north of 600 oil changes. I did all but three of the oil changes myself. My results speak for themselves. I go 5K with Mobil1 now, but ONLY 5K. I've never had any reason to send anything to Blackstone.

You can tell an old man, but you can't tell him much. My shit'll still be running when your shit is Budweiser cans. You don't run out of lubricity after 5000 miles, you run out of detergent effect. To illustrate, next time you cross 5000 miles after an oil change, don't wipe your ass again until you change your oil at 10,000. That's what you're doing to your engine.

I’m sure I do but is that supposed to be an answer to the question?

Oh well. I guess I’m too tired to understand. I wasn’t asking about opinions. I was wondering why people who have someone else perform their oil changes lurk in the oil threads.

I am happy for this debate. I have made good money investing in oil stocks. The more people who are swayed by emotion and marketing the better for my portfolio. Anyone want to go back to 3k. Let me know first.

Poor comparison. Even if they’re not changing it themselves they still need to decide at what interval to get it changed. Who is actually changing the oil is a moot point.

And changing it yourself doesn’t make your opinion more valuable than someone’s who doesn’t.

How do you explain the 6 year decline from 2014?

The S&P FOR THE PAST 10 years made 186% while your XLE during the same period made 4% TOTAL.

What am I missing Cudgel? You might want to consider retracting that post.

I dont want to. Simple as that. Father was a mechanic, auto and heavy equipment so I helped him enough that I am capable of doing what I want (within reason).

I’m not questioning why you don’t want to change your own oil. I asked a different question.

I was just telling you why I dont change my oil. I post because someone asked about oil change intervals. Maybe I misunderstood your question.

    I know its not a Taco, but I've been running 10k OCI on my wife's '17 Rav4 (0W20).

Sent a sample of the old oil from the 60k oil change to Blackstone, they said it's perfect and could go another 1000 miles if I wanted.

10k is enough for me though.

5k on my older Toyotas that get conventional or semi synthetic

I’m gonna counter that by investing in rebuilt engine companies lol

Don’t tell anyone but that’s not use of lubricating oil driving up oil (and gas) prices. And synthetic is still pretty cheap.

I did a little over 3k last time but it had been in there for like 8 or 9 months so I figured it was time. I don’t think you will be getting rich off me anytime soon.
