Looks like Jessup, MD, yup! Small world. Them, MaxBMW, and beemer boneyard are where I get majority of my OEM parts.

Agreed. At the time, I had just grenaded my previous car's clutch, and didn't know all that much about cars and figured the entire transmission was toast. As an impulsive young 20-something, who was still all about fast cars and had the income to blow on a long-coveted car, I just went ahead and bought it before fixing the old one lol.

After I joined a few subie forums and found out that the new engines weren't that reliable either, I figured once warranty came calling i'd switch. Then (and now) I value longevity, which is how I ended up with a Tacoma. a WRX would only be a 2nd/project car from here...which I could see happening someday lol.

Jessop, MD. Nice shop, several of my long distance riding friends get their bikes serviced there. They're really generous about test rides there too.

PA resident here. If you lived closer I'd tell you to just come over and we could easily do it at my place. I have a very secure bracket in my garage ceiling that allows me to hand the back end of mine up using 2 ratchet straps. You need to cut the heads off of 2 of the center stand bolts and then install new ones facing the opposite direction. I've done it twice now so I'm fairly comfortable with it.

I'll tackle it this winter. I've done similar service on my R1 & R6 in the past. For those bikes, I raised the rear up a bit and then supported the rear of the bike via a pipe through the passenger peg brackets supported by two sawhorses. It let the swingarm move w/o any weight on it. I'll try something similar on my FJR. I've seen them supported similarly.

Are you sure you never joined FJRiders.com? I did a member search over there and there is a Mad German that shows up when I do a member search and they even have a 2008.

Oh yes, I am on that one. Had a momentary brain freeze when you asked before. I was completely thinking of something else. I'm there and on one other one for the FJR.

I bet it rips and was fun to build, but just like most customs hard to get that money back. Also barely rode it after all that work.

I think I'm still on the episodes where she's down in Central America. I haven't watched a show in a week or so.
