wheel well openings

hey guys just put a lift on my '00, just curious if the wheel well opening are taller in the front than in the rear? the truck looks like it sits level, but the gap between the tire and flare differs by almost 3" front to back? this normal?

yeah i can grab some pics in the daylight tmro, there are no flairs really to speak of, just the stock chrome trim around both opening

 

From the picture on your Avatar it looks like your sitting low in the back.

 

Mine sits quite a bit higher in the back unloaded... as do almost all pickups. So yes there is a larger gap in the back than the front. Although I think you might be referring to a "bro lean" (front is higher than the back) and I'm not sure what would cause that. First gens are known for weak rear leaves that sag a lot over time.

 

When you lifted the truck.....................Did you lift the rear suspension?........

 

Bro lean eh? Great. To start off it's a daystar lift (2.5" suspension + 1" BL, I know I know how dare I =P ) the rear only came with larger rear shackles in the kit. So worst case, what are my best options here? Re- arch the springs ? AAL?

Of course it sits low, you never lifted the rear. Get a toytec AAL, $90 shipped.

 

He said the kit came with Longer shackles so assuming he installed the rear is lifted....

You might wanna just go with a new leaf pack, sometimes an AAL will help but it's more of a "temporary fix". Has your truck developed the dreaded axle wrap?

 

Longer shackles are generally for articulation... not lift. Get a AAL ffs.

 

If a longer shackle is mounted to the same location it will however create lift.


I will agree, if you want to go up higher I would go with a new leaf pack or do one of the Deaver AAL that replaces your stock overload with 3 leafs. I ran one of these for about a year and it did great. I actually am currently selling it if you wanna save a few bucks.
