Should I cancel my allocation? TRD OR Premium DCLB

Tacoma regardless of bed length is hard to park on side streets for parallel parking in major cities. That's why I never go to city center or any downtown area for anything. Suburbs are where Tacoma thrives.

Long bed might be too long for certain house garages, you have to check yours to see if it fits.

As for shopping mall parking, I always park in Siberia location with no other vehicles near me to avoid door dings or assholes back into me. Sometime when that's not possible, I still have no problem fit in most parking spaces.

 

What dealer are you buying from?

 

I’ve owned a DCSB for 16 years and as much as I love the truck the short bed has been a PITA in more situations than it’s benefited. Everything from camping to hauling to carrying kayaks to transporting Sheetrock/plywood/2x4s is a ridiculous calculation game with the 5’ box.

Unless you’re really going to need the added clearance from the shorter wheelbase off road I would definitely get the LB. It’s not going to be noticed on trails with reasonable clearance. And long beds look stellar with a 2-3” lift.

 

I went long bed on my current truck. The SB was slightly more..."proportionate" in looks but as far as utility, Benzy hit the nail on the head. When you need a truck to be a truck, the extra room is great to have. If you're hardcore off roading though, you might wanna stick with SB.

Exactly, I know many argue that you can leave the tailgate down and everything will fit, but many times I have to secure it inside the bed with tonneau cover, that extra foot is a game changer:

• bike loading ramps
• foldable ladders
• roof crossbars

they only make that for long bed, that speaks volume

 

I would still be active as far as continuing to look around on your own at other dealer websites along with autotrader to see what they have coming in.
Depending on how far your willing to travel to get one.

For my purposes the main advantage is sleeping in the bed for the few times I would a year. But the daily annoyance of parking it and getting in and out of tru garage prob not worth it. Issue is there’s no supply and this is a good deal. I may get it and the trade later.

 

Off road a lot, short bed.

Haul a lot of stuff, long bed.
Only you know which is best for you. You can definitely off road the long bed, you can also load up a short bed. What’s more important to you and your family.

 

Agreed. Would rather load a short than off-road a long. That’s the honest truth. I “feel” longer vehicles 100% of the time I drive them. I value agility.

 

Then it sounds like you've kinda made your decision bud lol. Keep looking for what you want then and don't settle.

LB smoother ride

 

It's only a foot longer so if you cannot take corners in the city then you do not know how to drive.
I have had the SB for years and I am glad that finally got a LB. 2 feet overhanging is better than 3 feet overhanging just saying when it comes down to sheets of plywood etc.

 

I've had both versions. I like the look of both but daily driving the SB is a better experience for me. I also fly a lot so SB better in airport garage. But I miss that extra foot from time to time when loading stuff. Not so much kayaks but I changed up how I load mountain bikes.

Don't settle is probably the best advice as some have already said.

 

Aside from the fact the long bed looks goofy AF (any LB owner who tells you otherwise is lying to themselves) the longer wheelbase really hampers the vehicles handling. That goes for on and off-road. So unless you nedd the LB I's stick with the SB.

 

Indeed, I bought 7 cars from them already and have a deposit on a 2023 loaded RAV4 or Venza.

During the shortage, they stayed strictly MSRP, but since late last year added about $600-$1000 of window tint, ceramic coating etc. Still best deal in central or the entire state of Texas.

But I foresee that they'll drop those addons soon, car shortage is coming to an end

 

Just don’t settle, I regret not getting 4wd even though I cannot just the cost or would ever use it.
