How's the quality of these mirrors held up? I'm also wondering if one could use the dimmer LEDs for an interior BSM indicator because why not? Locate the circuit in the cab and tap into that.

These are holding up great. no problems with the retrofit.

I've read somewhere that the BSM indicator lights are at a lower voltage... So, a 12v relay might be in order? :notsure:

Test for us with meter:burp:. EB3 is in engine bay fuse/relay box.

For those wishing to confirm my measurements in post #20 of the stock BSM only putting out 9VDC to the BSM mirror indicators the best way to do this is when first turning on the ignition. It is then that the longest period of activation occurs while not driving. The EB3 in the engine compartment fuse box connector as caribe suggested seems like a convenient place to take the measurement. Oh shucks so convenient, I just confirmed my prior measurements, but this time only measuring 8VDC. Could be a meter thing.

Do you know beforehand when someone will discuss circuits and taps and have these posts on standby to post near-instantaneously? Because you are damn fast (and damn helpful).

Good to hear! Guess I'm buying these tomorrow. I underestimated how useful they could've been on a recent cross-country trip with the cab fully loaded. Had to lean forward to verify blind spots were empty vs looking aft through the window.

Just as an FYI for those interested in buying them - Spotter put a brighter LED in the BSM and the new ones are as bright or brighter than OEM.

Thanks for chiming in and retesting that.

Did you happen to get confirmation from them on that change? It would be great to see the three mirrors compared side-by-side (OEM, spotter V1, spotter V2). :fingerscrossed:

I have actually swapped out mine with the newer version - don't have a picture but have road tested this this summer.

I see this is an old thread. I put the spotter mirrors in about a month ago. I definitely can say the BSM light is not any dimmer than the ones on my stock mirrors. Looks the same or brighter to me, as well.

Thanks for the confirmation. I'll make a note in the first post about this applying to the "older" spotter mirrors.

I originally reached out to the company with this suggestion, and I'm glad they increased the brightness!

Do these mirrors stick out further than the OEMs? I feel like I've got the driver side seated properly but it sticks further out and leaves pretty noticeable gaps on the perimeter.

Shouldn't - I don't think you have it pushed into the clip on the upper left.

Hm yours definitely looks more flush than mine, but I think all the clips are fully seated. I've given the mirror multiple solid pushes from the center to ensure all clips seated, and I heard 4 distinct sounds during the install.

    Below is the top left.

I wouldn't say they stick out further, but I did immediately notice the lack of a plastic bezel around the edge like the OEMs have. Same amount of glass in the same position, but that tiny little detail makes it appear "off" from certain angles. I can also see my turn signals bleeding around the edges of the mirror now. I'm trying to decide if it bothers me enough to fab up a gasket to mimic the missing bezel.

Another thing I noticed... are these mirrors a hair more convex than the OEMs? I've noticed that the field of view is slightly wider even on the "non-spotter" section.:confused:

Weird. It just feels like it sticks soooo far out even though in reality it's roughly 1/4-1/2". The lack of bezel is unfortunate from a visual standpoint but not a dealbreaker. I think I'll try installing the passenger mirror to see if it's any different over there.

    Huh.

I'm with Devious, mine don't actually stick out any further than stock. The corners are noticable since I keep both mirrors kicked out away from the vehicle, close to their max setting. (I want to see what's beside me. I don't need to see down the sides of my own truck, I already know where that vehicle is.) However, that amount of poke is how the stock mirrors sat also.

No idea why yours is poking out more.
