Bumb for the guys running the HC rear. I have the bumper all welded up and trying to figure out the swing out catches. My bumper is angled for a departure angle. All the pics in the instructions show a flat plate bumper. Anyone have so pics on how the installed the rectangular tube for the catch plates and latches? I cant find any close up pics in google or on here. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I did mine a little differently, I had the same kinda issue and made it work. I also wanted mine to be removable (other than the C bracket for the swing out). Here is what i came up with, i couldn't get the little bolt to stay in the hole while bouncing around on trail and added the strap for added insurance incase the latch popped open as well. So far with a new bolt pin on the side hasn't came open or wiggled any. The Velcro strap is still nice insurance.

Looks like on the website they have a piece of angle hanging down. I think a spring lock would work better, then you wouldn't have that low hanging. Just spring loaded pins through the top of the bumper.

That 2x3 tube they sent made its way to my scrap bin after i seen how they used it. Def. not clear on the install directions. had to come up with my own.
    *edit*
Also the plastic deal that mounts under the arm had to be trimmed flat to avoid my tail gate while open and sitting/stepping on it. Not sure if its the same for everyone ?

Yeah exactly how I was thinking about doing it but trying to figure out how to push it out from tailgate is what I am trying to figure out. Those pics definitely
    help thanks!
Yeah exactly what I am trying to avoid is having that block just hanging down. I think that was a cheap way to go about the design so want to modify it so it looks better and all around function better. Thanks!

@KingOfTheNorth No problem, I can send you more if needed. I tried a few different ways to clean it up. The pin provided seems too short and couldnt get it any lower on the tube or it would drag.
PS the PoPo didn't like my license plate on the angle over the receiver hitch so I put it on the PS side tube with some 1/4"x20 bolts and wired a light and camera.

yeah we will see what I come up with. I was thinking about mounting those hooks at a angle under the lip but that wouldnt give me the kick out/clearance I need. So a bracket kinda like how you did will be best. The only other option I see is cutting the supplied 2x3 rectangle at a 45 degree to weld on to match the face angle. I dont like that option tho as the block looks hideous with everything else. Your pictures definitely helped get my mind going. I already get hassled in the truck enough by the cops so we will see what they say about the license plate. I am just going to mount it on the water carrier and go from there.

I think cutting the block at the 45 is what they are calling for on the install, but it looks like poo and sticks Way out with both swings out. I think @Atl-atl has the same issue. Maybe he can chime in?
Yeah i wasn't sure if the the cops would hassle you for that up in ShowLow.

I have been rocking no bumper and have my license plate ziptied up to my bed rack currently with no issues...yet. They seem to like to hassle for the no mudflaps tho. So now it will be even worse with the lift and hc bumper. Honestly I think they only hassle cause its my wifes truck so they can check out the hottie driving.

You use 1/4 flat strap and just weld together the bracket? I think I am going to use some 2 inch by 1/4 flatstrap and go from there. I am going to walk out to me steel room here at work and see what I come up with but think this is going to be the best way to go about it.

Mine does use the piece they send that you cut at an angle. When the swingouts are open it sticks out about as far as the d-ring tabs. I basically never do anything in the back of the truck without the tailgate down so I dont care about how far it sticks out. I did have the same problem as @Yacob_D where the pin kept creeping up while offroad and eventually the tire swing latch would try to work itself loose and the swing would move about 1/4". Thankfully instead of opening it would just cause the latch to get tight, really tight. It was enough movement to make the latch so hard to undo I would have to loosen the bolts to get it undone. The extra little lever with a lock/catch thats attached to the handle doesn't do its job. Eventually I found a sweet spot where the tightness of the lever is enough that it doesnt loosen itself anymore but holy fuck is the latch tight. I have to go into wrestlers neutral every time I open or close the latch and I weigh 190 pounds. Ive noticeably stretched the u-bolt and should probably keep an extra in the truck. Just look at the length of the u-bolt on the jerry can swing vs the tire swing. Its been about a year with a lot of time in extended rough high speed offroad conditions and it hasnt loosened again though.

    IMG_2281.jpg IMG_2282.jpg

Here you can see how much lip is left on the HDPE. That little bit really helps keep the swing in place. I wouldnt cut it all the way flat unless you absolutely have to. Maybe 2nd gens are different than 3rd here.

Ok thats what I was picturing in my head as I was looking at the directions. Looks like we are going to have to figure out a better latch system. That is less than ideal. Thanks for the pics dude  I am going to head home tonight and play around and see what I come up with. I already cut some flat strap for that option. For a woppin 2 bucks its worth it. If I dont use them they will be good caps for my sliders I am building.

Edit: Looking in between the handle and the smaller catch handle I wonder if I could make a spacer that slides in there that keeps pressure back on one and forward on the other to keep it locked.

There is a little spring that pulls down on the secondary lever but its not strong enough to truly keep it in place.

Yeah that may work well for the first week. Well I will start trouble shooting that with your guys ideas and see what else I can come up with. Thanks for all the photos!

I bet @XPOTRPR could brainstorm something up to create a nice locking mechanism.

Damn.. I bought this thing then sold the kit to @KingOfTheNorth.. and I'm still having to deal with it.. lol

JK :D The latches were one of the things I wasnt too thrilled about and part of my decision to part ways with it. I am down to help figure something out though @KingOfTheNorth . Saw your snap.. looks good on the truck though! Text inbound.

These latches are soooo much better and beefier than the ones supplied. I need to switch mine out and ditch the velcro strap!

Yeah we will put our heads together and figure something out. How I put it all together last night it seems pretty good at the moment....without any weight on it and not driving it. lol So we will see how it deals.
Lol you will never get rid of this thing :D I miss the latches on my old Pelfrey swing out. Those were great! We will figure something out when/if they start to fail. I welded the hooks at the top of the plate and the latches down low so I have ALLOT of adjustment room to keep them tight. But we shall see what happens.

Going to bore out the holes for the lugs tonight then pull it all apart and send to powder coat tomorrow.
