In MA it can take 18 months or more to settled a Lemon Law claim. It's not just a matter of filling a claim and the AG waves her magic wand. Claimants often have to hire an attorney and go through mediation.

I haven't read the entire thread and don't plan to. 23 pages in three days is ridiculous.

OP hope it works out for you, but somehow I don't think it will.

There are a lot of Toyota stores in MA. Find one that is interested in fixing your truck. If they make you happy, they'll end up making more money on service than the original dealer did selling it to you.

Same here in Ca. A co worker took a year and a half to lemon law his wife's car. Had to hire a lawyer. Seems like the buy back case turned into a pissing contest at the end.

Bought my truck in boston ma....very happy with it. No lemon law needed here.
I'm not familar with the lemon law in ma., but here in connecticut you have 2 years or 24k miles to claim it from the new vehicle purchase date. The manufacture gets multiple tries to repair the issue, before considering it to be a lemon. Only then your entitled to get your money back, or another vehicle.

I didn't realize that, assumed it was the 3.5. In that case you have a legitimate beef. Like already said..its in warranty. Stop worrying. Either way it'll all work out.

Damn. Out of boredom just read through this entire thread. Of course curious about what the problem was but too dumb to skip to the end to see that nothing happened. It’s been said more than once, but jeeze,
Make a service appointment. In the meantime drive it like you stole it. It’s under warranty. Get complaints documented at service. If no problem has been found, continue driving until a problem arises. If this happens after warranty period, you will have discovered there is no gravity, the world just sucks. To hell with the safety concerns of driving as is. You have to accept some level of risk anytime you leave your driveway. Where a helmet if it makes you feel better.
Sucks to expect perfection and not get it these days, especially with the cost of vehicles, but that’s the way it is these days. Seems the op was really bothered that a problem occurred unexpectedly. I suggest he buy a gm. No suprises there, your gonna have problems

In all honesty and just my opinion it sounds normal to me at 1300 miles.

You've barely broke it in. I suspect after your first oil change and few more hundred miles this sound will lower itself.

Signed- a 2021 2.7L owner that heard the same thing with mine. I'm now at 12,000 miles no issues.

That would be unusual. I've the the 2.7 many times over the years, none have made a knocking, or clattering noise. If it were this 3.5 we have today, yeah, at 1,300 miles it'd be perfectly normal.

    Yeah.
Well, at some point I thought the OP said that the noise doesn't speed up with engine revs. If that is the case, it's likely not an internal engine thing. Could be an odd harmonic vibration from the fuel pump or something.

You could gain access to rod bearing by dropping oil pan. But if it’s bad enough your hearing it, likely needs more than a rod bearing. To replace rod, you would need to pull head and bring piston and rod out the top. At that point i would pull it and consider exchanging for a rebuilt if your not equipped to overhaul it.
But as previously mentioned, if the op reported noise doesn’t change frequency with engine speed, can’t imagine it would be internal engine components. I did have a buddy with a timing chain tensioner failing in a Honda that made a noise that didn’t exactly follow engine speed. Who knows, shouldn’t be that hard to figure out. A cheap stethoscope from harbor freight would probably identify it

    I could be many things
Why assume it’s the bottom 1/2 of the motor ? It needs to be properly diagnosed before you can assume anything .

The funny part about this whole thread is that all of this is just an assumption until it’s correctly diagnosed. I remember a long time ago I bought a Plymouth Duster with a 360 4 speed manual. It was a beautiful car at the time . Black with a white racing strip buckets etc , which was rare for those cars back then . When I bought it in 1979 it was 5 years old and had 19k miles. The engine ran good and good power but had what I thought and the owner thought to be a nasty valve or lifter tap. So because of that I bought the car as is for 750 dollars. ( keep in mind brand new the car was $4500 brand new.
I was 16 at the time so I went for it . When I got it home I asked a bunch of different people there opinions on what the noise was and everyone was saying I needed head work to cam lifters and timing chain, and all this craziness . The noise kept getting louder and because I was a kid with basically ont to much money I pulled the air cleaner off and started looking around and I noticed in the the back of the motor one f the bolts holding the exhaust manifold was partially out. It was literally finger loose . As a matter of fact they were all loose . Long story short I took them out added lock tight retorqued them and guess what , the engine was quiet as can be and never made a sound again . I never forgot that. Until I know for sure I don’t make any assumptions.

FYI. If a motor has true rod knock, its only a mater of a few miles before the motor will completely let go.

True Rod knock is NOT one of those noises you can just have for a while. You wont be able to drive hundreds/thousands of miles with it.

The knock might be related to those timing chains/tensioners....at least what an auto repair garage friend told me.
