I ended up touching mine up with some duplicolor super white II.. it looks like shit, but don't want it to rust or get worse

    Update on my situation.

A year ago i had paint peel on the back passenger door window area like everyone else. My dealer got the ok to do a "good faith" repair for the paint on that door.

Here we are a year later, the truck only has 10K more miles on it from the last time i brought it in for this issue. I am now having peeling on the back driver side door in the SAME area! Also noticed peel starting around the corners of the hood. Brought my truck in to the same service advisor and he had no problem getting this taken care of, they sent the quote over to the regional rep and the claim was denied from regional!

My dealer told me to contact Toyota customer care and escalate the issue. I just heard back from them and they are saying that since they already approved a 1 time "good faith" repair, they will not approve another. I explained to the advisor that many of us super white owners see this issue and its BS that they offer a recall for all other Toyota models except the tacoma. He just said that if i get it repaired to save the receipt for a future recall if it happens.

I am pissed that Toyota doesn't stand by their product, pushes the burden back onto the consumer and there is nothing we can do except hope they add us into the recall someday. My dealer said this is an issue with the paint not bonding with the primer so even ceramic coating would not help this problem. Basically pay for a new paint job or continue to see your paint peel away.

Mine has the same flaking issue around the front passenger window. I don't want to even bother with a dealer unless there is a legit recall for this issue so I just used a touch up pen to cover it until I have the time to do a proper paint repair on it.
    Pretty frustrating though.

The touch up paint is so terrible looking but it's a lot more durable than the factory paint

Hey folks. I just ordered a 2022 White Taco TRD Sport... and started reading this thread... is this "paint peeling" issue still a thing on the new taco's?

If I were you I'd probably try to get a different color and just wrap it white... Just saying from personal experience getting a fully loaded sport

Just an update on my paint. Several washes and details later and no issues. I even forgot it got repainted as it all blends in well.

Seriously if the dealership wouldn’t have covered it, I would have traded in the truck for a new non-white color. I really feel for you guys!

Hopefully your not willing to pay the extra $$ for a different colored truck, I thought about this but they won’t give us a break for it. I used some touch up and it’s way better than factory paint on the super white.
