Should I cancel my allocation? TRD OR Premium DCLB

DCLB is pure aesthetics imo. Dirt limo style.

The 6ft bed on the access cab versions look very proportional, too. And not most un-nimble thing to whip around parking lots.

 

Maybe it's because I'm used to driving Crown Vics and Caprices but I don't feel like the DCLB is really that much harder to drive. And for what it's worth, a Jeep Gladiator is 218 inches long compared to the 225 inches of the DCLB. I can't imagine 6" can make a huge difference in life, but I'm not sure it does here lol.

 

I didn't say it was hard to drive. I've owned a 66 Continental and 68 Chrysler 300, I know what it's like to drive a land yacht. Simply stating that you there's really nothing gained in the lost maneuverability. The breakover angle in the Gladiator sucks, but a least you can throw 37's on it without much hassle in order to compensate. That's not gonna happen with a Taco.

 

There's a lot of people who didn't actually read your use case here, which is kind of classic. If your concerns are "hardcore offroading", get the short bed. Ignore all the replies of "I needed to haul something that was 6 ft once!" if you have an actual, specific use case that is important to you (and that use case isn't hauling things).

The Tacoma wheelbase already really hampers offroading on technical trails and you even feel the difference between a Tacoma and a 4Runner.

As a side note, if you're actually hardcore offroading, you won't see much benefit with the Pro over the OR because you'll replace the bumper and the suspension anyways.

 

I chose a 06 tacoma offroad trd access cab 6 ft bed for camping and have been super happy with it. That LB dbl cab, the rear cab is so tight anyway for leg room I opted for the access cab and was happy with it for many yrs now. Been great for throwing kayaks in the back for quick trips to the lake, and I have done many extended week long trips desert camping inside the bed/shell with great success. With the access cab you still got a great wheelbase for 4x4ing unlike the lb dbl cab. My 2 cents. I havn't seen any new offroad trd access cabs lately, just SR's, Not enough bells and whistles for me on a SR

 

I wish I had this problem when I was buying my truck.

 

Just got a call from our local dealership. They have a trd off road 4x4 for 43k a little too late

 

Thats the the only dealership in central texas with a 1k adm. (tint, locks, etc). Majority of dealers want 3k or more. I recently had a deposit on a truck (last month) and backed out. Nice people, just watch out with the low ball offers. got a 36k offer on my 2020 trd offroad with 11k miles, when comparable trucks were going for 44k at the time. As soon as I wanted my deposit back they offered 40k, did not want to buy after that first offer. Took weeks to get the money back as well.

I’m for the long boi. I’ve had both and yes you notice the extra foot in tight parking lots, but only just.

You don’t notice it much in daily driving the city or much off road unless you’re into the technical stuff.

I might also say it rides *slightly* better than a SB, but mostly I’d say they’re the same.

I think they stand out in a world of DCSB, they’re way more practical.

 

Very pleased with the off road performance of my ORLB. I can’t imagine owning a SB tacoma to be honest.

 

When I bought my 2018 DBSB TRD OR 4×4 (Tech./Tow Package) in September of 2018 all they had available were the SB, even though I wanted the LB -- I was moving from 2000 Tundra Access Cab 4×4, and wanted that extra foot! Still miss my Tundra, such a great trouble free truck, but hooked a friend up that needed it, so still get to ride/drive it occasionally, Lol!

 

Going from an 06 DC LB Tundra, to a DC SB Tacoma... Hearing complaints about driving a LB Tacoma fall on my deaf ears.

 

My 19 was a SB. My 22 a LB. I can say after owning both that I prefer the LB.
The advantages of the SB are minimal (and debateable). However the advantages of a LB are obvious.
That being said, not everyone has the need for the LB. But you never have a need for a SB. My .02

 

So the dealer has a limited .. my desire is for the OR.. does the limited have a rear locker, crawl control etc ?

 

No, Pro and OR have crawl and locker and Trail Edition has a locker

 

gotcha - this is a deal killer .. plus I hate the bigger wheels and chrome
