First time Stuck!

I was not expecting such a snowy winter. I had parked a trailer in a field at my grandmothers house. That trailer is now trapped behind a snowbank. I thought I could run it. Well you can see the results...

So I got totally stuck on the frame. I was able to put it in 4lo leave it in gear jump out and the tires were still spinning. They were probably still 6 inches from solid ground. Had to have my buddy pull me out with his F-350 plow rig. Took a couple good yanks. Guess it has to happen sooner or later.

 

This is always my biggest fear which keeps me from trying risky things. If it's fresh powder, you can drive in it deeper than that as long as you don't stop (did that yesterday as we've gotten 3 feet out of this storm since Wed morning, but they finally plowed the roads last night). If the snow's been sitting and has already compacted, or has been plowed into a pile, then you gotta be real careful about centering up on the frame. I turned around a couple of years ago on one of our closed, paved forest roads when I saw a patch was too deep...and proceeded to watch two families in an Excursion attempt it. That was real dumb on their part as the Fords have very, very little clearance (I think it has less than 6 inches). Just like you, all 4 wheels were in the air. Had to wait for two full-size SUV/Trucks to come along with winches where they could reach from the dry pavement. Those Excursions are heavy.

 

Well at least you didn't have to dig yourself out, like I've done a few times this year already.

 

I dont even see how you got to where you are. There are no visible tracks. Did you let it sit there overnight or something?

This was not fluffy powder either.

 

I was getting a running start down the road in 4hi and veered off, felt like I hit a big pillow. I was trying to shoot through where the bank was looking lower. Neither a locker or ATRAC would have gotten me out of this. Using TRAC I had all 4 spinning at different times. The whole wheel wells were full.
