I was going to buy 3rd gen Taco, but I heard the 4th gen Taco might be a hybrid. Would you folks wait until 2024 for the 4th gen? Due to the gas price rising, would it be worth waiting?

I wouldn’t buy the 1st year of any new vehicle. Wait a year or two and let them get the bugs worked out.

Buy one now, gas will come down.

Tacoma’s hold their resale value extremely well. If you purchase a new 2022 or 2023 Tacoma for factory MSRP (no additional dealer mark-up), you should be able to trade-in or sell for a new 2025 with very little financial loss. If you wait until 2025 for the next gen, this will provide a full year for Toyota to identify and resolve many of the first year new model issues.

Get the new Tundra hybrid! 10 speed, 500 ft/lbs torque, 22 mpg.

as soon as they hit the used market, I’m grabbing a CPO Tundra Pro and finally dumping my POS Taco

The Hybrid Tundra only gets like 1 MPG Average better than the regular model, seems disappointing and can only hope the Tacoma does better.

I don’t have any real specs on 4th generation Tacoma, therefore I can’t honestly or fairly answer the question.

Price of gas will be going down.
The high fuel prices is not sustainable in the long term.

um, torque….as in 580 ft/lbs (100 more than NA), and i can almost guarantee real world testing numbers will be better than 1 mpg for the hybrid.

I’d buy the 3rd Gen and wait a few years on the 4th Gen to work out the kinks.

3rd Gen will holds its resale value.

Can you really though? I am certain my next truck will be the hybrid Tundra, but I am not holding my breath for "amazing" fuel economy in a 6000lbs brick.

Agree with the people above. But now. Get what you want, let Toyota figure out the missed design things then if you like go for a 2025. But with that said a bought a 2016 certified after all the recalls had cleared and have not regretted the purchase. I do however still see my 2003 running around town (new frame through recall) the guy is still happy with the 200k 6 banger. The 3 gens got bigger and in my mind have some hunting issues that can be resolved with a re-flash. Love my truck(s). The T-100. Was the one that got me started with manual transmission it was a beast.

Don’t think it’s a good idea to buy the first year of a redesign unless you like being the guinea pig

An extended factory warranty can lower the financial risk

Can't wait to see the new Tacoma, wonder if it will have a higher payload than the Tundra, kinda like a Hilux should. The new Tundras are a pretty nice design overall.

Learned a lesson never to buy a 1st year model vehicle of any type, unless you enjoy recalls.

The electric vehicle concept is nice but you do see some go up in flames. Having seen this happen once, I'm still skeptical about having one.

I would not wait, 3rd Gens are great. I am betting Toyota puts more efforts into mini pickup or full electric truck vice a 4th gen taco.
