When I drove home yesterday, couldn't see any smoke, so I assume they're almost done. Didn't see any aircraft either.

 

I have the “Flightradar24” app on my phone. It was interesting to track the aircraft supporting the fire fighting efforts. Bell Ranger helicopters, Sikorsky Ski Crane water tankers, King Air flown by the Forest Service, DC 10 tanker.

I rode out there on Ronald Reagan yesterday, and no sign of anything.

 

Yeah, hadn't seen any smoke the last couple of days, shows 90% contained. My dad worked for the Texas Forest Service for 15 years in SE TX when I was a kid, and he used to say they always kept it at 90% for awhile to keep some assets around just in case there was a flare-up. So it's probably done. Good news.

 

How'd the machine shop take care of you? What heads did you give em?

 

I spoke with their machine shop and the guy didn’t seem very confident in working on Toyota heads. He said he didn’t have the shims needed to set spring height, etc…

I ended up driving them into Houston to Texon Motors. They turned them around in a week.
They replaced a bent valve, did a valve job and milled the head just enough to clean the surface.

 

Damn, ok. I have to replace my head gaskets on my truck and wanted to get the heads machined. Although, I am prob going to do the valve work myself.

 

It was ~$500 for both heads. I thought it was a fair deal for everything they did.

 

Check with the guy at San Marcos Machine. He rebuilt the head in our old 88 22R motor. Since I could afford it, had to be a reasonable deal.

Anybody have any recommendations on where to go if I’m having potential issues with my rear differential? 2016 OR with 100k miles…

 

I would say go visit @Texoma but he seems to be booked up for the next 6 years lol. My other recommendations are Amazing Automotive or Cedar Park Toyota.
