Boss man had these laser cut, they don’t fit like the customer wants. He bought a 7/16” hex broach, no help. Wrote a program for the mill and got it to fit. Now to do the other 249.

 

249 is a lot

 

Had to change the dressing on my arm today. Didn't look too bad , just some missing meat , lol. Wife said she watched until the doctor broke out a razor blade and went to work.

 

Yes it is. Looks like the mirrors on their laser are dirty, they are usually cleaner cut than this.

Maybe the breather was a custom addition some time ago.

 

Might be a dumb question, but why did that piece crack where it did (red circle) and not where it's thinner (blue circle)?

 

It's not cracked, it's split on purpose. That is a clamp for a stop that bolts to the back of the vice

 

We thought about that then checked the five other gearboxes currently installed, and they all have the same feature. Two were in upside down and had no gear oil so I had to fix that. We'll see how long those two last since they had some wear.

Back onto the fixture plate, would it just be easier to order something like this? $100 for my table size, if and when I do screw it up its not a huge deal.

Pshaw, that there is still useable! Sling some more grease and PB Blaster in there and she'll run for another couple months. It's only temporary until it works!

 

Pinch or two of Ajax. Should wear in right nice.

 

Build it up with JB Weld... GTG!

 

I don't want to talk about the things that are being held together with JB weld at my work right now...

 

Makes sense now! I guess the split looked more like a crack since it wasn’t a straight line.
