this doesn't make any sense, no one is going to think a 2007 vehicle using 1 quart of oil every thousand miles is normal...

    something doesnt smell right here

My 4.0 has about 90k km on it and seems to use up a bit of oil between changes. Slightly less that a liter between changes at 5000-8000 km intervals I would guess. Has done since I got it. I use Castrol GTX 5W30.

A quart in 1000 miles seems a tad bit much though.

How many miles are on your truck? The dealers saying that's normal are full of crap. Something is definatly wrong for a 07 to be doing this. I know these dip sticks are hard to read...are you sure your not putting too much oil in?
My 07 doesn't use a drop of additional oil between changes but then again it's only got 16,000 miles on it. My last Yota (88 4Runner) used maybe a 1/2 quart between changes but it had over 300,000 miles on it by then.
