Agreed, I just used that as an example why shutting down ICE development facility was moot.

I thought it was paint samples, seems like I saw M on something recently, that was probably it. After a while it's all a blur.

And that's really sad that a dam vehicles costs that much. Just goes to show you how much the Dollar has devalued. My Dad purchased a 1974 Honda Civic for around $2800 dollars in early 1975. My payments were $84.00 a month. A 1963 Impala started around $2800 dollars.

A coke was 0.05 at some point. If you think about, what has really changed in 100 years, a coke is a coke.

They switched to cheaper corn based sugar as part of the sugar embargo. In theory it should be cheaper.

Actually.....there's truth in this statement. At some point EVs will become much more numerous and affordable. They'll have to for people to become invested in them. But for now, the current buyers are funding R&D.

But for now, they're still a niche market. You tell a family of 7 they'll have to find a way to fit into a $45,000 Honda Civic size vehicle....and oh.....forget towing that boat you have. They'll check out immediately.

But at some point in the future that $60,000 Chevy Suburban sized EV that can sit 8 and tow your boat with a 300 mile range and charge in 20 minutes on a Hyper-Charger that's available on every corner......then people will be on board.

But we'll also have to figure out how 100,000,000 million EVs can charge on grids that can't even handle a hot summer day.

    But we're clever creatures.

For now, yes. Toyota is currently developing a hydrogen fuel cell for large trucks....and down the line, heavy equipment

The amount of investment that it would take, it would make other things fail even quicker over time.

It’s a solid option they are looking into but it’s cheaper and easier to use a synthetic bio diesel that’s carbon neutral that works with current equipment and infrastructure. So while fuel cell would be “better” there is minimal incentive. The other option is simply hydrogen based internal combustion. Again it’s better from a carbon emissions perspective but lots of change needed.

Be another 100 years or so before they transition to fuel cells.

    .
They are supposedly building a big Rivian factory about 50 miles from me and the state of GA gave them a GIANT tax concession to build there.

Big cat fight from the local residents with the new factory.

Toyota has a fuel cell in the works as we speak at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky's powertrain plant
