Dealers seem to have a lot of Off Road 4x4’s on their lots, by a lot I mean 7-10. I was offered a similar deal, 31k for my 2020 SR then a off road for 43k, I told them thanks but no thanks. I’m happy with mine and no way would want to pay tax, license etc again after having just done that in January.

You can do plate transfers to the new vehicle and get a registration credit or apply for a credit through your dmv if you don't transfer the plate.

I didn’t know that, it’s good to know. But then there’s the 10% CA sales tax lol.

Seems like the think to do bordering being a no-brainer. Only paying sales tax on the difference really helps. Going from 2WD to 4WD helps even more.

My only concerns are how many BS overpriced options and port adds are on the new rig. 'Predator' steps? Money better spent on sliders. What are you praying on btw? Blackout emblem overlays? Either paint them properly or de-badge.

Best would be as someone said to get a lower option TRDOR. If that isn't an option see if they will include a remote tailgate lock for the same price.

If I wanted the OR 4x4, I would counter offer to see if they will put a couple more thousand in my truck and try to get closer trade numbers" market adjustment" LOL . If they do it , I drive a new off road 4x4 if not I just keep my truck and move on. You would be surprised what they will give for used right now then turn and sale it for a ridiculous price to someone who doesn't want to wait for an allocation. The used car market is nuts! In the end you have to feel good about your decision that's all that matters. Just a thought and good luck!

Go into dealership and talk. Their offer is a starting point….and they called YOU. That means to me they think they can buy your truck and (do nothing) resell it for $3-5 k more than they gave you.

when I traded my 16 limited in this last March, they initially offered me $25 ish (been a while…I do have exact numbers in my paperwork). It was in very good condition. I told them I liked my truck and I honestly did…I would not be willing to part with it unless they came up to $34k. I told them with that trade in, they still have enough meat on the bone to re-sell my truck and make money. It was back and forth…best I could do is $33.6k. Be willing to get up and walk calmly away…be polite and say “sorry we couldn’t make the deal”.
Go with a notepad and calculator. Verify all their numbers so you don’t get taken.

I miss the hickory leather…but really like my army green taco. Has every option my limited had except the hickory leather.

    good luck!

Grandpaw's economics 101. In the years to come, the 4x4 option alone is going to have a much larger trade-in value than the 2 WD, likely as much as the option costs when new.

    Just think,
we may be at a point in vehicle production where all vehicles are Hybrid or EV or Turbo 4 maybe the only engines available.
The 4x4 may even be extinct by 2025, after all 85% produced rarely use the 4x4 system.

You still can special order SOME options BUT be prepared to wait sometime to get it delivered, at a very high cost.

It happened to Jeeps, no more steel bodied on frame, no more torque V8's or in line 4.0 6L's.
    Soon no more manual transmissions.

I have a 97' Wrangler in great shape. Every time I drive it, I am asked "want to sell it?"
We have approached the era of plastic disposable vehicles.

EV/Hybrid batteries need replacing, which may cost more than the vehicle itself when purchased. If you can get one.
Who know how the mass-produced Turbos will perform, the ones we have now are not exactly high mileage winners.

Soon we may even see the "motor law", BUT thats another subject for another time,.... hope its a long time.

    Meanwhile:burnrubber: keep it real.

I'd swap it. IMO not that much money for a pro and the switch to 4x4.

Will definitely hold its value better in the long run compared to a 2wd.

It sold last night, I’ll keep my sr5. Current state of the economy had me thinking I rather save that money for now.

YOLO man do what makes you happy if it's affordable also they probably will be able to offer you this deal again I would think.

As far as MSRP for the truck they are probably increasing your trade in value with the mark-up.

Ask em to stroke a check for the trade in value o_O

    Either way G/L....
