I have already decided that I am going to buy a Tacoma 4x4 in about 6 months, but now I am trying to decide which cab option I should get. The AC or DCSB (I don't want the LB wheel base). A little background info. I am a single guy with a 60# Lab that will ride with me at times. I don't foresee wife/children in the near future. I rarely have more than one passenger at a time, if I do have more it is for very short trips.
I like the AC because the 6' bed is more functional. But I like the DC because my dog likes to ride with her head out the window. I am also going to keep this truck till it dies for its winter driving/hauling capability, so I think the 6' bed would be the better option. I don't really need the extra passenger capacity because I will buy a second vehicle later on if I need more space (for wife, kids, etc). Really all I need is more opinions. Thanks in advance.

PS: I have searched for similar threads and I just wanted opinions on my particular situation.

AC all the way, your dog can sit in the passenger seat. You don't need a DC for just the dog haha

    DCLB solves your problem .

If you can't park that , get the AC .

That wheelbase is a pain in the ass, when you have to park in the parking garage at my hospital.
And it won't fit in my garage.

I never have more than once passenger either which is why I got the AC. Plus I wanted the longer bed and didn't want to have to get the DCLB. I don't regret going with the AC at all.

I was in the same situation as you, single, large dog, no plans for kids, only hauling one person at a time.

I bought an access cab, and it's been great. What I did, and would recommend you do is take out the seats/console/headrests from the back and build a platform for the dog to sit on. My dog has spent 5 hour trips hanging his head out the back sliding rear window. (there are a coupel pics of what I build in my album)

go with the access cab, save yourself a couple grand, and have a more functional truck.

Thanks guys. I just needed people to tell me I wouldn't regret the AC. When I searched most posts said "Get the DC, you will regret getting an AC". I will be buying an AC TRD Sport.

While I love the 6' bed on my A-cab, if I could go back I think I'd have gone DCLB

But between DCSB and A-Cab... I kind of need the bed space, but sometimes it would be nice to be able to take more than 1 or 2 people with me on trips, off-roading etc... I keep so much shit stacked in the back that most of the time I can only take one passenger with me. I thought the same, I hardly ever have passengers, but I realized that while that may be true, I would have more passengers if I had the room.

Tough choice. If you don't need the bed space, I'd say DCSB.

Same boat as you, got the AC and haven't regreted it for a second. Eventually put a shell on so the dog has a place to hang out if I have to leave her for more than a few minutes, or when she is wet and dirty.
