This is a long shot but you all are PA peeps so maybe I'll get lucky. I have a 20 year old car that can't pass PA state emissions inspection because of a "no comms" error when the state's emisisons equipment plugs into the OBDII port. I have two scanners at home, the shop has two other scanners, and they all connect up no problem. We went as far as taking the car to another shop that has another vendor's flavor of the state scanner; same result. I'm hoping someone here has run into this issue and has some kind of solution. I got a waiver and the car is on the road, but it was WAY more expensive than just a state inspection. Thanks for any help.

Antique is at 25 years and once tagged as such the title is "branded" antique and a new title issued. At that point ALL of the rules change. You don't ever have to have a state inspection again. There is no emissions inspection again. You DO need to change how your insurance company handles it. You're sometimes limited in the annual mileage you can drive. You're not supposed to use it for regular transportation like back and forth to work. In many ways you just trade one can of worms for another so it might not be the answer you really want.

Better option is if you only drive it less than 5k miles per year the vehicle should qualify as emissions exempt and not require the emissions inspection at all. I only put about 4k miles per year on my Tacoma so it qualifies that way.

    Good morning all!

Not quite, while exempt under 5k, emissions inspection is still required but does not require the vehicle to be hooked up to the computer.
    Saves $5-15

Ah, I was not clear on the exact details of just how that worked. This should still solve the OPs issue though as the stated problem was a "unable to communicate" error when hooked up.

I haven't put 5k on my truck in a year since 2012 and thankfully motorcycles don't get emissions tested. 10k since January 1 just on my FJR

It's not old enough yet and I don't know anyone who sells stickers under the counter. Not sure I like that option at any rate.

I do need to look into the antique/classic/historic/whatever designations. But I like driving this car when/where I please so I'm not keen on being told how to use it.

Typically I drive cars like this less than 5K/year but this one really floats my boat. I plan to use it regularly until I'm too old to climb out of it. Which means I really need to solve the no comms problem.

Thanks all for the ideas and suggestions so far.

Visual inspe tin is still required unless registered as a classic or antique.
Use restrictions apply to both but I've never run into any issue.

They really don't make these new phones very well. Just had to pay off this pos and order a new phone.damn thing won't charge anymore. N I use my phone for work everyday. And I didn't want a refurbished phone cuz this Samsung s20 is the worst phone I've ever had. I like Samsung phone my last one was great this one freezes up like dial up.

Same thing here, I have the the Samsung A51 5G. Miss the S8 Active I had before, wish they'd bring them back but there's no money in phones that are damn near indestructible I guess. I've had the screen replaced twice by U Break We Fix and replaced the camera screen myself with the kit from Amazon, this phone is no Active but still kicking.
