The one I’m flying in that video is on the left. It’s one I built and put together myself. FPV drones have two main paths, quick and expensive, or, slow and slightly cheaper. The quick way is to buy a Ready To Fly kit, fly, crash (and you will) and learn to build and fix your stuff after you crash. Or you can take a few months to learn how to put these things together from parts, build one, then fly.

After that the paths split, are you going analog or digital (it’s like the difference between seeing crappy VHS or decent BluRay). Analog is much cheaper, digital is expensive but you may find that seeing the world in HD video is much more preferable (as I do).

For example, if you want to buy a top of the line, digital, ReadyToFly kit with goggles and transmitter, you’re looking at something like the iFlight Nazgûl Evoque F5 which will set you back about $1300. https://shop.iflight-rc.com/Nazgul5-HD-with-Caddx-Polar-Vista-Digital-HD-System-RTF-Pro1659

    O
n the other end of the spectrum, maybe you just want to dip your toes into FPV, see if you even like flying, and you just wanna fly around your house and backyard, you can buy an analog ReadyToFly kit like the TinyGo Whiop which will set you back like $260. https://www.getfpv.com/geprc-tinygo...vwEMkjebp7q7O77-0lkf5gJaY81wcuG4aAokEEALw_wcB

There’s also a few different classes of quads, racing, freestyle, long range, cinematic, micro, etc, and it’s hard to know what you might end up liking when you’re first getting into it. That’s why I have 5 quads because I kinda like them all.

No matter what path you choose, you’ll want to get a cheap controller and spend some time playing a simulator to learn how to fly FPV. It’s gonna take at least a dozen hours of stick time to learn just how to keep these things in the air.

    F
eel free to DM me bro if you wanna jump into this and have more questions, I’d rather not spam this thread with drone talk. But I’m happy to help get folks into the hobby as there’s very few of us due to the steep learning curve (both flying and building). But the rewards, man, the last time I felt adrenaline like this I was riding sportbikes.

If you want to know more about FPV drones, there’s a documentary about it streaming free on PLEX called Flowstate.

Picked up some lower tread 37s to use for mock up/tubbing purposes, to get ready for when the tires I want come out later this summer.

Installed a new exhaust yesterday. I went with a FlowMaster 40 series muffler. The truck sounds much more alive which I very much enjoy.

this is straight from google since I have never built anything for the dunes and have limited knowledge.

Running the leaf springs under the axle helps lower the center of gravity, improves axle control under hard acceleration, allows the axletube to come up farther since there are no leaves between it and the frame, and with proper springs can still allow great wheel travel.

"Lower the center of gravity" was my point with the Willys. Less roll-over tendency.
Hard accel doesn't apply to my Taco (lol).
But the idea of "greater wheel travel" caught my eye! Now I'll have to investigate if there are specific bump-stops for over-spring configurations which allow that greater travel.

Cheers for sending this info. Didn't intend for you to do a google search, but hopefully you benefited from that too.

Brilliant idea. I have the Diamond Back LED touch light in the front, but this would be a great added security feature if ever broken down on the road also. just bought a pair. Thanks!!
