I think it's the larger wheels on the upper trims, saw an SR this morning with the smaller wheels. That truck looked level, if not a slight rake in the rear. Might have been a long bed, and that could play into it.

Leaf slring still might have been a better option. It's ok for a truck to ride like a truck.

That was 7 years ago, and Toyota put a similar power plant in the new Tundra.

I'd get one now. Will hold it's value to trade in a few years down the road for a 4th gen if thats what you decide you want

I'm aware of how long ago it was (11 actually), and as I have experience with a 1st gen 1st MY of a new drivetrain, and can speak to its shortcomings in my particular case, and the OP asked a specific question pertaining to such, I thought it germane to add my 0.02 on the pitfalls of purchasing an initial MY of a vehicle with new go-parts. YMMV.

    Agree with this approach.
I bought a 2017 new, drove it for 3 years, put 25K miles on it and sold it for $31K cash within 2 days. My purchase price at the time was $38K

    I wouldn't buy a 1st model year full redesign.

Might never have a problem, but you never know, the manufacturer won't even know until a customers vehicle has issues.

The new Tundra coil rear end is soft just like every Toyota, their signature pansy spring rate that drops like a rock when you add weight.

While the new Tundra is composed due the frame, springs are soft and the Bilstein shocks are like not having shocks at all, same trash from Bilstein

If the OP can afford it, buy one truck now and another truck later. Keep both. Neither truck will be jealous of the other truck

The Tundra does look softly sprung going down the road. I saw a short bed SR5 OR a little while ago. Those Bilsteins and coils were getting a work out on the pot holes.

I ordered a 23 tundra trd sport god knows when it will come in. Then I took the dealers owners truck for a quick rip same truck trd sport to be honest I wasn't to fussy about it. So I bought my 18 trd pro 2 weeks ago and so far super happy. Might wait for the new Tacoma in a few years.
