Favorite Whiskey?

There are definitely some bourbon names out there that I question…

Not sure why MGP/Luxco/Squibb thought naming a line after him was a great marketing move.

Remus was jailed for two years under prohibition statutes, and while he was in the pen his wife took up with a prohibition enforcement officer and they liquidated almost all of his assets. So…quite the lady.

Also, he was acquitted

 

I wouldn't name a bourbon after her either.

 

Actually, upon reflection, 'Murderous Scoundrel' (Aged 20 years to Life) and 'Adulterous Gold Digger ' sound like perfect Orphan Barrel releases.

Someone call Diageo and tell them to 'discover' some old stuff that hasn't sold in a while.

 

Speaking of Old Tub, I've never heard of it, never seen it and I hate Jim Beam.

At least my favorite line of bourbon so far, Evan Williams, is owned by a long time and "local" distiller.

What does bottom shelf Heaven Hill taste like compared to say EW Green label or BiB?

My favorite bourbon has a 95% corn mashbill. It used to be called Hudson Baby Bourbon. Now Bright Lights, Big Bourbon.

 

HH bottom shelf and EW Green label are the exact same??? I didn't know that! But green label is too bland for me anyways.

 

Differences in age and yeast maybe. Mashbill is the same.

EW is a Heaven Hill brand.

 

I can get EW BiB all day here. Never tried it. Maybe when I go out on my bourbon hunt today I’ll pick one up.

 

Wanna like this twice. Best bottle under $20.

 

Boring ass bottle hunt today. Not a thing to trade money for.

 

Bummer. Gotta hate it when you can’t spend money. I am hopeful for my hunt later today. Either way I am going to the butcher and getting some meat to bbq for the weekend.

 

Taking an early lunch to go for a hunt myself, hopefully I have better luck on this side of the state. I got a couple butts last night at $0.99/lb. to smoke for pulled pork Saturday.

Several years back I went through the Lexington Kentucky airport. Had some time to kill between connecting flights so I stopped in their duty-free liquor shop. Spoke to the sales guy and asked what whiskeys he recommended. At that time I was new to Bourbon. I remember picking up a bottle of the Cassius Clay as he said it was good. Originally, I bought it for my brother-in-law as I thought it was a really cool looking bottle. I ended up keeping it for myself and later discarded the bottle. It was quite yummy and I did keep the cannon trinket. Still have it. Anyone else ever heard or tried it?
