Tundra is just a regular hybrid, not even a plug in.

Also plug ins > BEV :p

When on ICE. The R4P gets 96 MPGe in electric mode. Also.. what do you mean 'not as fast'? sub 6 seconds 0-60 too slow for y'all?

Since the white house has changed the definition of a recession please refrain from using that word for the time being.

It has all of it, tbh, but just for 40 miles or so. (My guess-o-meter says 50 right now, but I granny it in town a bit)

So that makes the Rivian a grower not a shower?

I will say the nicest thing about the Germans getting involved in making electric cars is that the occasional Tesla owner who manages to get away from the cult of Elon will actually go and sit down in one and see what a $100,000 car is actually supposed to look like.

I personally love the look of the Rivian, it's near twice as costly unfortunately.... I got one on pre-order BEFORE the price hike luckily :D My neighbor has one and they are bigger than they look on the computer screen. About the size of a F150 short bed.

I second that.... I would probably drop my pre-order for RIvian if this REALLY would come into fruition and Toyota gets their heads out of the cloud and redesigns the interior to make it FUNCTIONAL for even average height individuals. It's just stupidity that they are stubborn to not change b/c it's a hot selling truck.

Curious what issues you have with functionality because of height? I'm fairly tall myself and don't have any issues in that area.

Not as fast as a true BEV like the f150 lightning that goes 0-60 in 4 seconds while weighing more or a Tesla that does 0-60 in under 3 seconds. You know, actually fast, not just kinda quick.

We will see how true that statement is in 13 years when all ICE motors are outlawed for use by general consumer vehicles in Europe.

    https://www.motortrend.com/news/european-union-upholds-2035-internal-combustion-engine-ban/

"Meanwhile, the EU and its 27 member countries have decided that a ban on new ICE sales will be enforced by 2035 and, yes, this would include the sales of new hybrid vehicles according to France 24."

If you are willing to drive out of your way to locate or wait 20+ minutes for Costco gasoline (or are currently driving a Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler minivan), you probably can not afford a Rivian.

Agreed. And I might buy a small utility trailer for the short term to tow behind our old Yaris. It already has a class 1 hitch for a bike rack.

How does your neighbor like the Rivian? Any problems with it?
The price of a Rivian is stupid but so is the terrible gas mileage of a Tacoma. It’s embarrassing that full size trucks get better mileage.

I see a ton of these around LA now- really big trucks though coming from a Tacoma.

i still dont understand the complaining about the rivian msrp

all those full size king ranch platinum and limited models are in the same price range and they are all over the roads, and a solid % are just drivers not pulling any real work weight

Especially from a forum that drops $40k on a truck with a longass wheelbase and then throws $10k of off roading mods on it to still have worse performance than a 4runner but with a bed that never gets used to hold anything but an empty Rotopax. ;) Did I say that out loud?

Life would certainly be pretty boring if we all liked and drove the same thing.

I just hope that someday soon there's an electric truck for under 40k with a 300 mile range. even better if it's made by toyota.
