Base Tacoma key replacement

    2013 base Taco. No factory remote/security.

    Is there a fob on the key or can I just get any generic Toyota key cut?

    If your key looks like the one on the bottom.
    Then you can have one cut and it should start the truck.

    If yours looks like the one on the top. You need to have the key programmed to the truck.

    Predator tube steps, Ranch Hand grill guard, Magnaflow CatBack exhaust, Toyota tool box & bed mat, 2LO Module by @Up2NoGood, Rearview Compass/Temp Mirror, Tune by @JustDSM.
    If you have a 2.7l 4 cylinder truck you almost certainly have no immobilizer and can get any plain key cut for it, if you have the 4.0l V6 you almost certainly do have an immobilizer and will need to get a chipped key cut and programmed to the truck.

    Chipped keys have a slightly larger head and a ● or G (depending on year model) stamped into the blade of the key just below the head of the key, non chipped keys have nothing stamped into the blade and have a smaller more square head.
