Sweet... I've seen some of his videos and he seems very knowledgeable. Didn't know this was his recommended on though. Just pure luck!

Unfortunately, I actually have a TUNDRA, not a Taco, but I'd wager there is something similar for my rig.
I say Unfortunately, but comparing my bed to my buddy's Taco, I'm going to have WAY more space than you guys!! :brianr:

Stopped in at Super Pacific on my way thru OR this week. Picked up the cross member and one other small part, and got a tour of the new space while I was there. Sorry, no pics but looks pretty cool, and huge! They are still building it out so their retail and office spaces weren't done. None of Spencer, Josh or Peter were in.

That looks like a great install. I installed 2x100 flexible panels also. The CIGS panels are really coming down in price though. Seems like they would be so much easier to install. They come with the adhesive on the back and you don't need to allow space underneath. That's how I'd do it if I was starting over. Just another options. https://www.bougerv.com/products/200w-flexible-solar-panel

I just don’t like how long the cig panels are. That panel being 78.8” makes cross bar placement more difficult for me.

Yes, that's true. The Sunpower panels I used fit really nicely across the front of the camper.

Saw this with a good overview of the SP at the PNW overland expo. Shows the newer/different mounts that were discussed in the past. Recall it mentioned these wouldn't fit but the truck is a Tacoma so guess they work. Also mentions "packages". Nothing on the website. Anyone recently get an install that could add any updated info?

I'd assume Pete is referring to things like the molle panel kit and awning mounts that you can add on to your camper.

Interesting. Kind of looks like they have an adapter that goes into the Taco T Slot. Top portion is probably universal. Bottom is swappable for different attachment style/points. On another note.. Randy from SP is once again such an awesome guy and takes care of the customers. I've got one of the new cross rails coming. Although since beating the mounts back into place and changing my bedding setup, I havent had any issues. Interested tyo see how it helps regardless and also like the idea of having attachment points across the inside now.

I put on my crossbar a week or two ago, and it's been a 100% improvement. I was late to the bowed extrusion party, but this instantly fixed the problem. 10/10 for SP on that one so far.

So I'm expecting my SP by September and I'm prepping my truck for it now. A few questions I would like to get cleared up:
    1. Upgrading suspension/leafs/air bags - I currently am stock OR and don't really have a desire to lift and I hear add-a-leaf is only a short term solution. Should I just go with air-bags? If so open to suggestions, and is it easy to install myself? I'm going to build some shelving/kitchen drawer system with 80/20 aluminum. Probably an additional 200 pounds with gear (I'm horrible at estimating) to the SP. I also tend to have mountain bikes on the back.
    2. Weather-sealing truck bed: I've seen a lot of suggestions on here in terms of fully weather sealing from water, snow, and dust. What's the best solutions and where are all of the nooks and crannies I should consider? Links to postings would be fine.
    3. Lastly I have a Prinsu on my 3rd gen. I don't do crazy off-roading so I should be fine without cutting correct? My understanding is that if you have a 2nd gen or do a lot of off-roading you should consider cutting.
    4. Anything else to consider? I have installed bed stiffeners.
    Thanks everyone!

    1. I don't think you need to do anything right away. See how the truck handles once you have it built out, then decide. Bikes don't add that much weight. I ended up getting a custom leaf from Deaver which added 1000lb capacity and no lift, since I have to be able to get my truck in the garage and it was already pretty close. I often bring a dual sport moto on a hitch mounted carrier which was the reason for the upgrade. With just a MTB rack I wouldn't have bothered. I'm still considering air bags as the suspension can bottom going over abrupt bumps like speedbumps and pot holes, but that was happening before the camper too and still does with the custom leaf.

    2. This is the list I went off when I did my sealing. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/dust-in-bed-canopy.676241/page-2#post-23827724 The only thing I have an issue with is some water intrusion at the front. I didn't seal underneath the front bed rail before installation and I think that's where the water is getting in. It's really only an issue when I wash the truck if I'm not careful. I'm in Socal though so rain is pretty rare.

Is your taco "Cement"? Did you happen to see how the grey SP color matched the cement color?

Those are very similar to the LumenAid lanterns that I use. Only thing different is that the LumenAid also has solar recharge capability

Nice bag!! I see that it states 62in wide (when flat). How roomy is it when two people are inside the bag?

It is a GREAT bag.. but.. unfortunately is too big and plush to fully close the X1 with it in it. It seemed fine at first, and did close, but there was so much pressure from the bag pushing outwards on the mounts that it caused them to bow and then make contact on the extrusions during the closing process. The same result as others have had.. possibly do to the same thing, or not. Regardless.. the bag is great, and does fit up there perfectly and has tons of room for 2. My wife and I have been using it for probably 5+ years at this point with more nights in it than I can remember. We are both relatively small so no issues with room inside at all. it holds up great.. I was actually sad when we had to put it away in the garage and change to the fitted bed set + blankets setup we're running now. But.. its not that bad anymore and just needs a couple more things to make it just as nice as the sleeping bag was, warmth wise. This new setup does compact down much better than the sleeping bag though. I didnt want to have to throw our sleeping stuff up there and make the bed/tear it down every time we camped (as that defeats the point of the X1 imo) so I had to compromise. Bail on the sleeping bag and go with this more lightweight, thin setup.. or toss that big bastard of a bag in and out all the time.. So.. here we are. fitted sheets + blankets and its honestly great. Plus its not even close to a tight fit/close anymore.
