I am too old and senile to remember all the GM and Chrysler bailout details. I was with Ford MoCo at the time. I don’t remember us taking any federal bailout money? We were designing and producing some much better vehicles than our domestic peers at that time.

This ZR2 looks fantastic. That interior is amazing. I have my doubts that Toyota step up to surpass it

Looks like the tie down setup in the bed is way better than what they had on my GF's 2020. The headache racks, though... still stupid as hell. The only thing that was good for on her truck was getting in the damn way.

430lbft at a very impressive 1500rpm. 310hp at 5600rpm. flat torque curve the whole way through. it absolutely destroys the current 3.5 taco motor which has to one of worst performing engines ever placed in a truck

I didn’t get mad, I clarified my statement. And it was factually correct, just like my comment on the downfall of GM was induced by greedy Union contracts and outrageous pensions (which you were also wrong on).

Mine did too, for the first 20k miles. I will say being able to see 26 mpg at 70 out of a full size double cab that rides like a Cadillac has been nice. Used to hear folks rip on the afm, but I put 200k on my 2010 suburban with 0 problems, but it did burn a quart of oil every 3000. Think I’m turning into my dad, he freaked out and bitched about how he’d be having to buy and replace expensive motors all the time when power windows became standard.

It wasn't correct which is why you had to "clarify" (move goalposts). GM never paid back the $11 billion bailout and never will.

I honestly do not believe that would be a significantly high risk. The challenge I much more frequently hear about (2nd hand so plz take as such) are smaller “nagging” problems that the GM dealerships are not able to diagnose. Personally, I have much more confidence in my Toyota dealer service departments than the area GM dealerships. Just my opinion, no charts/graphs/data to substantiate.

Everything about this truck looks impressive. I can't say yet I could buy a GM, and I am very much hoping Toyota can somehow be competitive with the 4th gen, but they have A LOT of catching up to do.
    • Its finally looks the part
    • The power figures blow the doors off the lethargic 3rd gen
    • More features and more modern than a 3rd gen (which isn't hard)
    • That interior! It isn't just leagues ahead of the 3rd gen, it is legitimately up scale.

Speaking of moving goalposts, you never corrected your response to above. You stated that the $11 billion would never be repaid, but we know that is false (they paid back $5.8 billion) completing their obligation in full from the bankruptcy filing.

oh i agree with ya. if anything the colorado is the only truck or suv that gm makes with the least amount of issues. its main problem is the torque converter shudder that if a flush wont fixed it, time to replace the converter its self. other than that they are stout trucks, but again, they will never be as dependable as a tacoma! cheers

I truly think that Toyota has a mindset that is not to follow trends. As stated, GM made a truck to look like a Tacoma. No matter how much power the engine makes, it's is useless when it is not working. Toyota will build a better truck than the current gen 3, (it's more like Gen 2.5) and make a real Gen 3 truck by also using the parts from the new Tundra. That is also going to make Toyota more profit by merging the two lines really into one and while keeping to focus on getting the Gen "4" truck ready after everyone else has shown their hands.

No, that's true. The US taxpayer lost $11 billion from the GM bailout. That is money lost from the purchase and sale of GM assets. GM has never paid back any of that money and never will. You keep replying and aren't correct.
