OMG, the dam has burst from the weight of our feets!

I did actually find a pair of Hoka One One, and they were not "it".
For years, it was New Balance Walking 411, in Wide, until they just stopped showing up at Academy. I'd get like 6 months, and suddenly, BOOM, flat tire. Stuck insoles in them until I could find something.
Discovered Sketchers Arch Fit, one pair is my current go to. Fabric ones, can't remember the name. But does that carry over to a leather, tennis shoe? Why NO!
Then got pretty disappointed to find that the Arch Fit insert looked EXACTLY what I had been buying - but so far holding up better. I will probably order a pair again before I get to a store, where someone is literally waiting on me "hand and foot"!

I liked the Sketchers with the rounded bottom - and wore out several pairs of those and couldn't find them anymore.... they quit making them since folks were twisting their ankles wearing them.... aarrgghh that's when I found the Kuru's and haven't had any plantar fasciitis issues since.

I joined the Sketchers on-line program, and found they have TONS of stuff that I can't get at a store. Now, getting my size.....that's a crap shoot. But since they send an email every.........single......day, it's pretty easy to check. And on-line cost less.

I wore Sketchers Oxford leather work shoes, had many pairs as my work was hard on shoes. I beat them apart in less than a year. I stuck with them because they were fairly light and they held up well for a low cost shoe.

I also took great pleasure chucking them at the waste transfer station when I retired. :D

I had some Sketchers tennis shoes, and steel toed boots previously. I understand the chucking pleasure! I was leery of the Arch Fit, but 50% of those are a good light shoe for the bucks! And 50% of them are just good enough to mow the yard in.

Well shucks. You guys discovered my shoe. I couldn’t believe the comfort of Sketchers in relation to the low cost. I found Sketchers at Big 5, bought all 3 pair they had in my size, and ordered 3 more. The price had gone up when they came in, but I’d ordered them at the old price. Working on my 3rd pair of the 6 now, and can’t remember where I stashed the other 3… probably in the garage loft.

I do the blower thing too, Dave. I can blow out the entire gutter system in about 15min. I use a small lightweight corded blower with a nozzle that fits inside the downspout flanges. We live in the woods, so it's every 10 days or so. Wife doesn't like me on the roof, but for me it's an easy way to check everything up there, including my stability. Also gives me a chance to blow off any roller skate acorns or round twigs in my way.

Hope it goes well for you today.

Thank you for all the great advice on shoes. I do have custom orthotics due to arthurites in my feet. I have been purchasing SAS shoes and they last me usually about 8 months. I wanted to try something different. I used to by Ascis but they only last 6 months.

Yesterday we started to dismantle the pond. Cut out and removed most of the liner. We will remove the rest of the liner on August 13th when the rock will be removed and go to a new home.

Going out to lunch with my lunch pal today. He seems to be doing better with Parkinson's and has moved from a walker to a cane.

A few before and a present pic of the pond being dismantled.

Well it's my turn, tested positive for covid yesterday. Really bad headache, body aches, and the fever. I go from hot to uncontrollable shivering and cant get warm. Massive doses of vitamins d and water, bed rest, it just has to run its course. I feel like crap.

    Morning all:
Interesting discussion on shoes. I normally wear New Balance 4E sneakers, and like others when I find a pair that I like I buy multiple pairs. I've been trying to locate a pair of Sketchers XW to try on, there is a Sketchers outlet not too far me, but their shoe inventory has a lot to be desired, I hate ordering them online and then having to return them because they are too narrow.

Darn, somehow missed your post on covid Greg, hope you get over it soon also.

I've gotten the Sketchers wides on the last two sets of leather shoes - and they have been good for fit and comfort. Soaked the leather with water-proofing/preservative but otherwise, just wore them in. Had to get them off the web site - the stores around Tucson have never attempted to keep them in stock. The soles on this last set were supposedly "non-skid" (or some other description I've forgotten) - and they grab metal chips at the shop like crazy. Can't take them in the house without a session on the tailgate of the truck with needlenose pliers and a magnet. Due to oily floors around the big lathes and mill, I thought the non-skid would be a better choice but not so.
