    ...too much shit to list.
Ladies and gents, this is only going to get asked once. Please keep the politics out of the discussion. We have received reports already and none of us want to deal with it.

    1. True. It would take a large investment. That hasn't been politically popular for a long time
    2. Depends. If the world would embrace nuclear that would help
    3. Not only that, but a full charge isn't practical on the go. I think 80% it slows drastically
    4. Batteries don't do well in extreme climates
    5. If the batteries are properly cooled (like a Tesla and not a Nissan or whatever) the batteries can easily last 10 years

Why do all of these EVs have to be so wacky and overly complicated. Rivian, cyber truck, hummer, etc. I think whatever company can make a reasonably priced electric truck will sell a lot. We need a basic truck without all the gimmicks and electronics of the current EVs. Just take something like a Tacoma that people already like and give it an EV power train and sell it for $40K.

Wind and solar will help supplement the existing power plants. As more and more solar panels are added to homes and commercial buildings less power will be needed from the existing power plants. At the same time buildings are being built and updated to be more energy efficient. These items should allow the addition of charging EVs without much drama in most places except for Texas and California. They have bigger problems there.

Consumers will, as we all have to pay for it no matter the energy source. Here in Idaho 70+% of instate energy comes from renewables.

Terrapower (funded by Gates) is also working a new molten chloride reactor. Our neighbors and a few of my clients are currently over there building it, supposed to go online in 2026.

You can drop an EV drivetrain into any shitbox. Hate power steering, windows, brakes, air conditioning….well here ya go.

Boy this sure is a roller coaster of a dumpster fire. Touched on space travel, validity of human existence, renewable energy, capitalism and consumerism, math, race, thinly veiled political opinions, one guy brought up his wife’s hoot hugers twice...
My favorite part were was the appearances of @Turd Ferguson though. Yeah, that’s right. It’s a funny name.
    RIP Norm

Welp. Considering the Rav replaced a TDI wagon that had 90hp stock (150 after tunes and mods), it's plenty fast for me.

"The first leg of his trip saw him use 37.8-kilowatt-hours to travel 17.8 miles, most of which was uphill--to over 6,500 feet of elevation--and featured ten creek crossings and several tricky off-road sections, which equates to around 2.1 miles per kilowatt-hour, not too far off its normal efficiency."

Whoever wrote that article screwed up the math.

    17.8 mi / 37.8 kWh = 0.471 mi/kWh

Yes the lighting is more like a regular truck. The biggest problems I have with it is that it’s made by Ford and the range isn’t very good on the standard battery. If they come up with an electric Ranger or Maverick maybe they’ll have a winner.

    i know you can read
so will repost this for you
you can read and do the math

dont be so worried about range, there are just as many trailers being towed locally as there are trailers crossing the country

not every trailer in use it for long hauls

but we all know this I am sure

The lowest Model Y entry level trim goes 0-60 in 4.8, the RWD Y doesn't exist to purchase anymore. The slowest model Tesla model S goes 0-60 in 3.1 seconds. I agree that under 6 seconds for any car is pretty quick, but having rode 600 class motorcycles anything not under 4.5 seconds to me is not fast but that's just like my opinion man.

More like the best ICE's have an efficiency of 27%, and it's usually around 15%. It's disgustingly low and laughable given how long ICE's have been around and innovated upon. The blatantly new and better tech is here to stay. The massive oil lobbies could only hold humanity back from advancing to much better tech for so long.
