I think this sort of issue is not a "year made" but "it happens after a certain amount of time". So 4-5 years and it lets go.

Yeah mine is a 2017 and I think that is about typical based on all the responses I’ve read. And regular waxing didn’t seem to help, as I waxed my truck every 2 months or so.

Sure, and I think this information would be interesting. If anything, it could help to generate a lifespan.

On the flip side, I'm coming up on 5 years, 100k miles, parked outside, and robo-carwashes and no issues (knocks on all the wood) so I think its an inconsistent QC issue that randomly appears on a small but significant percentage of trucks over time.

Leave it at small. I hat that a few of you have problems and I hope I don't have them as well. But realistically, I think it is a very small portion of super white owners that have an issue. Blazing Blue Pearl had problems too. Different but issues.

Toyota's white paint problem was big enough to where they have to warranty all sorts of other models forever due to a lawsuit over peeling paint. Trucks were excluded from the settlement though.

Excluded because it’s a small problem with the trucks, perhaps?

search customer support program ZKG. It’s also linked in the OP.

I don’t think it’s productive to spend our time debating the size or severity of the issue. Only Toyota can truly know it and they’re not going to share.

This thread and others have demonstrated a trend with the Tacoma’s and I hope Toyota starts doing right by more Tacoma owners when it rears it’s head, because while it may be a relatively small percentage, it’s still a significant and obvious failure that you don’t expect to happen when buying Toyota reliability.

My 2019 was starting to show signs of having the issue right below the side windows on both sides (both doors) so I put in an allocation for a 2022 black limited in mid-June and picked up the new truck Monday.

No. It's not peeling or cracking yet but you can tell it's about to. I've been watching it close for the past year and there was a big difference in those areas from about six months ago. Just a matter of time.

I hate that I have to care about this. Big fan of white, but I’ll do the same as you at the first sign. Smart move.

I hated to trade ... truck was paid off and only 8K miles and in perfect condition. I planned on keeping it for the long haul but no way I was going to deal with it.

You sure they aren't mixing that up with the new blizzard pearl white color?

I thought mine was supposed to be super white, but the factory window sticker and the Toyota app are telling me its Ice Cap?? I read somewhere that this is essentially the same thing as the super white, just with a clear coat? Anyone have any knowledge about this?

Mine too last truck I had was an 05 silverado and I drove it for 14 years. Figured this would be the same thing.

My plan is to trade it in to a toyota dealer for a used F150 or a new/used 4runner. I figure it's poetic justice to give it back to toyota.

I wonder why it’s always the same areas that peel. Back of Rear window, inner lining under hood, and not like rear panel or tailgate, or fender
