Ahh transmission is almost level. About 3 degrees back and the motor is the same. Supposedly that’s the optimal angle when setting the motor and I just got lucky and that’s what it ended up at

Trans for sure. There is a lot going on there with all of the angles and clearancing. Came out super clean.

I literally got lucky. When my dad came to help get the trans in is when he told me about the 3 degrees which he found when he was researching and building his jeepsrer.

thanks. Was A lot easier than I thought but I also already had a piece bent I used to start so that was nice. I have to notch the tube just a little more for the shifter but it’s close and should work well.

Well absolutely been thrashing to get it done but it left the garage today. Tons of videos on my instragram story (hambone.114). Only have the rear drive shaft and the front should be done tomorrow. It seems to drive good. Way faster in high and drives better. Needs a floor and some other little things but should be ready for the rubicon/fordyce next week. 640056E1-814A-4CDE-9A2C-D4DB7BE2347B.jpg

Well I somehow did it. Got the front driveshaft back. The driveline shopmade it wrong so I had to fix it… got the floor tacd together and seat and center console back. Have to weld the skid plate and it’ll be ready to go.

    Stuff. Also things.
Still one of my top three favorite builds on TW. And it just gets better!

How are the shift points with the TH350 and the 3.4? I can’t remember if you did like a custom manual/auto valve body or what. Or what stall you went with for the TC. Regardless, it’s a sweet mod with the Atlas.

Thanks I appreciate the kind words.

it’s a reverse manual valve body. So 1st is right after neutral and 3rd is at the bottom. And it’s full manual so I shift it. Shift points seem good and power feels better with the th350.

Ive drove it probably 20-25 miles through the steep grades around the house at highway speeds and it holds speed better. Stall ratio should be pretty close to stock. The torque converter shop just has a specification for this adapter since you can only get the converter through them.

if your on the gas and shift from 1st to second it’s a little harsh but it was on with the a340 as well. Seems to drive well besides an exhaust leak

Have about 75 miles logged. No real issues. Just lots of finish work it needs. Exhaust leaks under heavy load so it sounds shitty. Trans leaks a little out of the dipstick.

but did some more clearance checking. Everything seems to clear and be good. Finally swapped the toyo 40s I’ve had laying around on. Think it looks so much better/less ballon to the tires.

trailer got a fresh coat of stain and started packing. Getting excited for rubicon and fordyce. 98F41316-E2DB-449A-A27B-DE64A7071583.jpgFA491092-35CD-4D2F-8AFA-CA54D2F74A0D.jpg68F8C5E5-2593-4757-BD9E-282753AE4BD5.jpgFBCDE44A-C9DB-440F-A271-8AED66A2CC0E.jpg3C3BECC6-E580-43A1-98EE-1C85671587D5.jpg

So far so good. Trans and atlas work well. Reverse is pretty high geared and the stall is a little higher but I’m learning. No issues till pulling into camp when the rear locker air line let go. But ran a new one today and ready for rubicon Monday.7D3BB4D0-7CEB-45EF-A5A8-6998A6E2637A.jpg

Well we are home two days early. Not even a mile into the rubicon, the front cv snapped. I’m thinking the cv ran out of degrees and was binding or some how cracked on fordyce and a simple climb broke it the rest of the way. We turned around as to not get in a worse situation only having 2wd (I only have a rear spare shaft) and cut our losses and came home early. Floated in loon and did some tourist stuff in Tahoe so kind of saved the trip.

And it wouldn’t be a trip for us unless we had trailer issues. Dad had a blow out between Tahoma and fordyce. I had a bent wheel that we changed on the trailer and my dad lost a set of trailer bearings in the middle of Nevada.

Who would have thought the trailers would have as many issues as a rig lol bummer about the Rubicon man, glad you made it through Fordyce with the new setup though!

Overall how did you like the Atlas compared to the old setup?

Man I had a trailer when I had a jeep pre Tacoma and I spent more time wrenching on the trailer than the damn trail rig. Part of the reason why I don't have a trailer now.

We’ve had some bad luck with the trailer. It’s mainly junk tires we are stuck with cause of a warranty. Once these go we will upgrade. And the dirt road into meadow lake for fordyce is super rough so that didn’t help.

I like the atlas. Front digs are sweet and help a lot. The gearing is a little higher and the stall ratio is a little higher so it’s just learning to wheel the new setup.
considering I drove 1100 miles this trip and my dad drove about 1500 miles, no way I’d not trailer. Between the half doors, big tires, and gearing, trip would have been miserable and if we broke something big, no way to get it home.

we’ve probably neglected the trailers a little and like I said above have been having issues with these trailer tires for a while. These newest ones from discount don’t hold up at all so we just have to try different tires.
